Joe Garagiola made his bones telling Yogi Berra anecdotes. That’s when I liked him best! It’s also how he started out on talk shows... Yogi was always a hit back then...Even if you weren’t Yogi. You just had to repeat the stories...

You just made the idea of watching at least an inning or so of a Tigers game seem attractive. That’s not easy... They’re making The Orioles look like the Big Red Machine... Which, by the way, is a great example of a team with only average pitching dominating... Sort of like the Yankees. Big guns on offense, strong defense... average pitching was plenty enough... Gibson's voice does not fit his demeanor. Gibson has Parkinson's disease, which might explain his demeanor. Of course, it's a little odd that he's one their broadcasters.

He’s STILL go a seat in the front row! One of the greatest commercials ever!... A genuinely funny man. Great story teller. For sure. He is a very good broadcaster. I remember even back when he was a player you always heard that teams would keep him longer than his performance might merit because he was so entertaining.

I thought Tony Kubek was really good. Intelligent commentary, and a bit too honest to suit The Boss. I thought he made a good pairing with Al Trautwig back in the MSG days. Garagiola was a little too corny with the stories for my taste, but he reminds me of listening to games as a kid and I give him nostalgia points for that. The Yankees have had many outstanding announcers over the decades. On the other hand, they also have John and Suzyn. I thought Garagiola was excellent in his younger days, but his wit caught the attention of talk shows. That led him to become a bit more of a self-promoter, plotting for additional work as a guest, guest host, and host of other events. Can’t really blame him. There was a lot of money to be made year round in those venues. So, Joe had a bit of hotdog in him. That’s not so bad... (: Sort of sounds like Dick Vitale.

Gibson's voice does not fit his demeanor. Bibson has Parkinson's disease, which might explain his demeanor. Of course, it's a little odd that he's one their broadcasters. Chi, I knew about his Parkinson's. But he has always sounded that way. The voice just didn't seem to be in synch with the hard-nosed player persona.

Cubbies home announcers are pretty comical. Dry, understated humor that you’ll miss if not listening closely. Is Bob Uecker still doing the Brewers games? I think he's still doing some games on the radio.

Not Jim Palmer for me. He sounds like a talking corpse. So droll. So monotonic...Plus, he’s probably in just his underwear most days. And he’s trying not to get too animated so he doesn’t break his plastic surgery or explode his Botox. Mr. Vanity... Jim definitely has what the French call amour propre. I find him amusing; guess the drollery works for me. Plus I enjoy the smartass Earl Weaver stories. I will give points for the Weaver tales... Weaver was an interesting character...
