Gurriel hangs out over the plate. Paxton says, MINE! I know. I used to have my toes as close to the plate as they would go... (: I would have given you a bow tie!  Had my nose scraped a few times. I was pretty quick, almost never got hit. I’d always stand back up and smile at the pitcher. Right where I had been before. I remember one guy that was so pissed he grooved the next pitch, and I hit the snot out of it. “Here, I’ll throw this one down the middle for you”. I was almost constantly ahead of the count. Picky, picky. But I would do a first swing ambush once in a while to keep pitchers honest. I’d usually swing out of my shoes and miss when I did that...but it was fun, and fun when I connected... accidentally... |

Gardner catches the impossible catch... The catch itself wasn’t all that spectacular. It was the jump. Without that jump, it’s not near that “easy”...
