Hi Kaybli --This season bears no resemblance to any season I can ever recall. Except of course for the bottom line of 100 wins and counting. As for me, I won't be home until October 5, so I'll miss Game One of the ALDS, but I'll read about the victory here. Right now we're in Bamako, Mali. They will never put a replica of this in Epcot, but it's a fascinating place. This is the country of Timbuktu, except nobody can go to Timbuktu on account of it's occupied by Al Qaeda fanatics who would kidnap or murder anyone who wandered into their turf. The people here are as kind and welcoming as any on Earth. I don't know if you have ever heard of a book called "The Badass Librarians of Timbuktu," but it's about the amazing effort they undertook to save the beautiful ancient manuscripts that had been collected there from destruction by Al Qaeda. They smuggled them to the capital here in Bamako, where they still must keep a very low profile because they are still in danger of being hunted down. We got to see their workshop where the manuscripts are being preserved and meet the people involved. It was a quite moving experience. Anyway, we can talk about that stuff on a more appropriate thread. I shouldn't have changed the subject here. I can see that 28th ring all the way from Mali!!!

You are literally in Timbuktu! Not the phrase going to Timbuktu as a location inconveniently far away but the actual city of Timbuktu! I had heard of The Badass Librarians of Timbuktu only vaguely. Thanks for explaining. Must of been a wondrous experience! And screw Al Qaeda. Backwards scum of the earth they are. Everyone knows that. When you come back you should post some pictures in the travel thread! That would be neat.
Its great you'll be back Oct 5th! That's when I have tickets to see game 2 of the ALDS. Keep checkin in though. I enjoy reading about your journeys immensely! Happy travels and stay safe!
And if it gets too hot make sure you follow Noetsi's advice and go jump in a lake!

I believe that was jump in THE lake. We have never quite determined which specific lake noetsi was directing to...I’m sure it was a nice crocodile-free one...

I wonder if Joe G is just a little jealous? Aaron, I don’t see you using my binder. Do you think if you did you might have won a few more games?...

I wonder if Joe G is just a little jealous? We wouldn’t have made the playoffs with Girardi as manager this season. Aaron Boone did a much better job this season than any year that Joe Girardi managed, including 2009.

I always felt that the Yankees could have used a robot manager and gotten winning results when Girardi was running the show. Boone? The lineups are still a bit odd, but he’s not near as tight, and seems to have a great knack for handling the team...He’s pretty much won me over as the season progressed this season..

Bringing the infield in during the second inning also makes me shake my head.
