Of course I fell asleep shortly after posting that lol. Anyway since you brought up Tom Seaver. As I said I live roughly 25 miles from either stadium. My mom and her friend grace used to be grocery cashiers when they were 16. This was about 1970 so Tom Seaver so shortly after the miracle season.
He walks in the grocery store in southern ct and my moms friend grace asks him for ID for an alcohol purchase he gets offended and says to grace “Don’t you know who I am I don’t need an ID the whole world knows who I am.” So Grace says to him “I have no idea who you are” so of course mouths drop from other people watching it and he says “I’m Tom Seaver”. Unphased grace says “ And I’m Grace ___ I’ve never heard that name please give me your ID.” So now he starts a scene that he had to give the id and the manager had to calm him down.
Of course being the time it was Grace got a lecture after he left that she was not workable to a celebrity. She just repeated she had no idea who she was and was following the alcohol rules. Imagine how different it would have been if that happened in today’s world ?

I think it's silly for someone to assume the entire world knows them. That goes double for someone who doesn't fit their demographic...The lady at the grocery store was likely not a strong demographic for baseball that day, huh???
I completed a Hunting License for Bill Bergey when he was with the Eagles. Until I saw his license, I had no idea who he was. To his credit, he didn't mention it until I asked him if he was "The Bill Bergey". Not to his credit, he was pretty drunk and had already been hunting without a MD. license. But back to the good things, he was a pretty decent guy to speak to other than that...

Shoot, missed this answer, but I'm glad the lad is not in trouble...He needs to catch a break somehow...and perhaps what he's doing is the best thing he could do. Get away from temptation for a while. Don't know when you'll see this buddy, but I'm rooting for you!!!

Came to post on of those "factoids" that I find so interesting...Rickey Henderson who is now second in MLB history in bases on balls due to the unfortunate existence of a fellow named Barry Bonds, drew 796 walks in his career while leading off an inning. Lou Brock, second in career stolen bases drew 761 walks in his entire CAREER...a few other notables that drew fewer career walks than the 796 Henderson drew leading off innings? How about, Kirby Puckett, Luis Aparicio, Roberto Clemente, Ernie Banks, and Ryne Sandberg? Ichiro Suzuki drew 384 walks in Japan, but only 643 in MLB to date (none yet in 2018)...

Here's another. When Jimmy Piersall hit his 100th career HR with the Mets in 1963, the known "flake" who had mental struggles during his MLB career was nearing the end of his career, so he celebrated by running the bases in the proper order, but facing backward...During his career, Piersall was involved in many altercations with team mates, opponents, fans and imaginary demons as well...On at least one occasion the altercations led to his demotion to the minor leagues, whereupon the odd behavior continued and he was committed to a mental institution. He wrote a book about his troubles after he retired titled "Fear Strikes Out", which was later made into a movie starring Anthony Perkins of "Psycho" fame as Piersall...

Committed to a mental institution? Damn that sucks. Mental illness is a tough thing to deal with. I looked him up. He died just last year.

It's the dog, I swear it is. She's talking to HERSELF...She's also the one that farted in the room. (Really...ever had a mastiff? They can run you out of a room fast...150 pounds and with a scent gland on the anus...that is deadly!)... I've always been of the mind that the smaller the dog the deadlier the fart. We have a dachshund/jack russel mix and her farts are some of the grossest I've ever smelled.

I guess the one advantage we have with "Brandy" is that she can't get on our lap and fart. On the other hand, if you're sitting in a chair and she's standing facing away from you, the business is at face level...I swear she barks from both ends... (:
