I have no idea what to think of this move.

Boone has never coached or managed before but then again, how important is that?
How Boone handles the clubhouse, the media and the younger players is really what's important.

Aaron @!#!ing Boone does it again! Not my first choice, but I don't hate it for some reason. Probably because I love the man from the 2003 ALCS Game 7 HR! Did I mention I was there for that game??? No, but seriously, I hope he's on the analytics train and I'm sure he'll come across as extremely likable to his players and the media. Otherwise, I have no idea what to expect! I'll take him over Girardi though! Fun choice! Best choice? I don't know.

I have no idea what to expect, but they probably figured they could mold him and he wouldn't be already set in his ways like someone who had already been a manager or in the non player role for so long I guess. We will see what happens.

I hope he's more composed in his press conferences than he is here.

I don't know what to think, so I'll say "In Cashman We Trust" and keep a positive outlook. He's young enough that he may be here for a decade or longer, especially if the team goes on the run we're all hoping to see... and has 20 x the personality of a stump, which means he'll have at least 30 X the personality of the oh-so-dry Girardi. At this point, I would have been happy to see a chimpanzee hired to move on from Girardi...

Presumably the Yankees have a different idea of what it means to be a manager. If the idea is that you prioritize being a manager of people in the clubhouse and someone who can engage with the media, and tactical skills and experience are less important then maybe this makes sense. If the intent is to have a manager who seeks to put their own imprint on every game less than the last guy, then perhaps managerial experience doesn't matter as much. If that turns out to be the case, I'll be happy with this move even though I would personally not hire someone with absolutely no experience doing the job or managing or coaching at any level.
