84 year old Al Ferrara, outfielder and actor has passed away. He was the greeter on “77 Sunset Strip” and later a CEO… Nice factoid on the deeply lamented "77 Sunset Strip" Inger. So Al Ferrara worked with Efrem Zimbalist Jr. and Roger Smith and Kookie! My main memory of Al Ferrara is that he was the last guy on the bench for two Dodger World Series teams. On the roster in both 63 and 66, but he only managed one plate appearance. In looking up his stats I see that he was a better hitter than I remember him being, finishing his career with an OPS+ of 119, albeit in fairly limited activity. |
