Just to keep the injury thread up to date, I crashed riding my mountain bike last weekend, and no I wasn’t wearing a helmet....I know. I think I sustained a mild concussion and perhaps a cracked rib (that’s where the real pain is) or two. It’s my left side, so I should be able to pitch soon (right-hander), but I may not be able to swing a bat for a few weeks.

Did you go seek some professional care? Please do so, rizzuto. Concussion's and cracked ribs are not to be messed around with. Hoping you feel better soon!

Your head and ribs are now going to replace my ass injury in forum lore... Agree with kaybli, if you haven’t seen a doc, please do. Both areas can be difficult to heal...

No, since I decided to take a year off from work, I’m without medical insurance. There’s little to do for injured ribs anyway, other than wait for them to heal. Thanks for the concern, though. I am much better than last weekend.

I haven’t either, but it would have helped in this particular case. It wasn’t the first time I crashed and probably won’t be the last, so I may consider it.

Glad to hear you are better than last weekend. Wear a helmet next time and do keep us updated on how you are feeling!

But, that’s nothing more than a really bumpy ride for $6000.

Aaron Judge (rib) recently began hitting off a tee in the batting cage.
One observer told Erik Boland of Newsday that Judge "didn't seem to be holding anything back." Boland writes that it's "definitely not a guarantee" Judge will be cleared for full activities when spring training 2.0 begins, but there's still a "chance" the slugger could be ready for Opening Day late next month. Judge is working his way back from a stress fracture in his rib and also a punctured lung. Source: Newsday

Helmets are a good thing. No insurance is not. The real thing to worry about is a concussion.

Ugly, really ugly. When you were born the doctor slapped your mother... Hmmm. Dangerfield’s jokes work better in first company, don’t they? Noetsi was a frail, skinny child. In the winter, his s hook bus driver didn’t even slide the doors open. Russ would just walk between the insulating rubbers...

When I was a child I hid a lot in places with no people.
