Maybe there's a chance that Rizzo can play in the postseason if he's comfortable hitting with 2 fingers below the knob of the bat? I knew someone that used to bat that way, he was a pretty good hitter too. As far as Rizzo catching a ball, I guess that would depend on if the Yankees can come up with a way to protect Rizzo's fractured fingers. He doesn’t show any pop with all his fingers. I’d pass. Let Rice play…

His ability to scoop out low throws to first will be missed. Cabrera has flashed some leather over there. Yeah, but in my opinion, so far he hasn't hit with any consistency to be a starter. That said, if the Yankees start him, I hope he has a postseason that reminds fans of Brian Doyle's postseason.

The apparent choices at this point are Cabrera/Rice... Rizzo isn't officially listed as out. I'd like to see them start Rizzo if he shows the Yankees over the next 5 days that his fractured fingers aren't an issue.
As for Rice or OC? Just my 2 cents...Which one of them starts at 1B would depend on if Rice made the adjustments that he needed to make when he was sent to Triple A.

If Rizzo says he's good to go, then fine. But can he be replaced once the series starts if it (the injury) turns out to be a problem for him? As for Rice...not gonna know if he's made the adjustment until he shows he has...or hasn't.

If Rizzo cannot go once the series starts he can be replaced but he is not eligible to return in the series or the next. www.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/postseason-roster-rules-eligibility
