Virologists explain why these tiny parasites are so tough to treat. “The fact that they are not alive means they don’t have to play by the same rules that living things play by," one virologist said. Cases were first reported in Britain, Italy and Spain, but now doctors in the United States are seeing clusters of kids with the disorder, which can attack multiple organs, impair heart function and weaken heart arteries. This emerging syndrome, which may occur days to weeks after a COVID-19 illness, reflects the surprising ways that this entirely new coronavirus infects and sickens its human hosts. At least one child in Britain has died. No children are believed to have died so far in the United States, "but that could change," said Dr. Sean O’Leary, a pediatric infectious disease expert at Children's Hospital Colorado who serves on the American Academy of Pediatrics committee on infectious disease. Parts of Asia that relaxed restrictions without a resurgence in coronavirus cases did these three things South Korea and Hong Kong successfully relaxed pandemic restrictions without having another rise in cases by data sharing, using targeted testing and contact tracing.
The varying results of efforts across Asia to contain the virus and reopen society present policy options and perhaps lessons for countries behind on the outbreak’s timeline.
Public health specialists who spoke with CNBC said they’re not confident U.S. officials are taking note of what’s working and not working in Asia. A member of the US Navy who serves as one of President Donald Trump's personal valets has tested positive for coronavirus, CNN has learned Thursday, raising concerns about the President's possible exposure to the virus. The valets are members of an elite military unit dedicated to the White House and often work very close to the President and first family. Trump was upset when he was informed Wednesday that the valet had tested positive, a source told CNN, and he was subsequently tested again by the White House physician. READ MORE…

RIZZ: I have said for sometime we, America are suffering from Two Viruses = The C-Virus & the Stupid Virus (or the Idiot Virus) = Just read/listen to the news.
Last week, Costco announced it would be requiring all shoppers to wear a mask or face covering "that covers the mouth and nose at all times" while in stores nationwide. Those under the age of 2 are exempt from the policy.
Despite this recommendation, which has been issued for people in all 50 states, Costco faced immediate backlash from a sizable number of people who declared they would no longer shop at the big-box retailer if forced to cover their faces.
...Among patients given hydroxychloroquine, 32.3% ended up needing a ventilator or dying, compared with 14.9% of patients who were not given the drug.
...That analysis of medical records showed a death rate of 28% when the drug was given in addition to standard treatments, compared to 11% with standard care alone.
THE NUMBER OF IDIOTS/STUPID ONES IN AMERICA INCREASE DAILY.

Do Me, in the last cut and paste article, if you read it in it’s entirety you will see that the doctors were more likely to or the “hydro” treatment for sicker patients. That renders the numbers inaccurate. With only 1400 total patients the study is still in the “small sample” stage. What we do know is that the patent on “hydro” has run out, and it’s a remarkably inexpensive solution if it proves to work.
I find it amazing that many people speak of this drug as though it was Donald Trump’s discovery and that he’s recommending it. In reality, what I heard him say was that the drug showed “great promise”. He was told of the potential by his medical staff, he didn’t pick it out of some encyclopedia of pharmacopoeia. I say idiocy is prevailing from both “parties” as this still rages as an over-politicized battle by all involved. Hopefully in the end someone with a true compassion for mankind and the knowledge to serve medically will step forward with no personal vestment to find the cure and vaccine. Hopefully the no-vacs will decide to utilize it as well...

He should be everyone's hero. Thanks desousa! As a resident, he had a rotation at Pediatrics coming up which would have been very slow and easy but he volunteered to work anywhere in NYC where they need him for more intensive covid care work.

MLB plan for 2020 season to include approximately 80 games and expanded postseason, report says
Details of MLB's restart plan proposal are beginning to emerge. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported several general parameters on Saturday. Here are the nuts and bolts:
A truncated season of 80 or so games beginning in early July. Teams would only face division rivals and the same geographic division in the other league to keep games regional. Teams would open the season in as many home parks as possible. That will cut down on travel and allow players and personnel to easily isolate at home with their families. An expanded postseason format would send seven teams to the playoffs per league. The plan would be similar to an idea floated back during the offseason.

I'm not a fan of letting more teams in the post season, but whatever, at least we will have games. It will be strange watching games without fans, almost like watching Marlins home games all the time.
