Have you tried melatonin inger? It works okay without the weird side affects of Ambien. Does give you a slight headache sometimes though. I don't take it every day. Only when I must sleep for something important the next day.

Got home a little late tonight. Just one song played (lookin' for the heart of saturday night) "telephone's ringin' it's your second cousin". Very nice...If the rest of the album follows suit your suggestion will be a great gift to my ears... As happens often, I'm still up and got to complete listening to this album while making scores of failed attempts to win at four suit/two deck spider solitaire on the computer. That's where I go when I'm tired and can't sleep and won't to tire my eyes out. I played Waits album in the back ground. Indeed, I did enjoy that much more than I ever would have imagined. Sometimes I think I'm going through some sort of transformation. Is it age, new found independence? Something is making my mind clearer lately. Less stress? The Turmeric Curcumin I've started taking at night and morning? Is this like the death of a star? Is my brain flaring up before the big burn out. What ever, there is a clarity that I can't explain...I feel younger than I did yesterday, and I felt younger yesterday than the day before. Is the WABAC machine firing on all cylinders? What ever it is, I felt it during this listening to this album. Must be the ambien. Maybe I should go to bed. Perhaps I'll dream lucidly instead of having this clarity of thought. Usually with the ambien, the dreams are lucid. They're usually not at all frightening, but often a bit disturbing as pieces of my life are put together in a very disorderly way and generally combined with the performance of some mundane task...usually with a former employer calling the shots...sometimes I'm in charge of a crew of people. I'm sure Tom Waits could make a great tune about ambien. If you know of one, let me know. G'night all!!! Glad you enjoyed it. The first time I heard the album was in college. Immediately, there were two or three songs I knew would always stay with me. Over the years, after countless playings, the entire album is like an old friend. Many disagree, but to me this is Waits at his best. Honestly, I find much of his later stuff unlistenable. There is something about 1974. So many of my favorite tunes had their release that year. Just before the Disco craze - ugh - and just a few years before rap emerged (my apologies to Kaybli et al but another ugh), the early 70s music was as diverse with quality as any era.

Only when I must sleep for something important the next day. Yes. I also take an over the counter concoction that is in a gummy form that contains melatonin among other herbal relaxers. I do find that to assist as well. I recently met a lady that sells "essential oils". I'm going to meet with her next week. She says she has oils that can replace the ambien (after all these years of taking ambien I'm as much an addict as any junkie, I'm sure). She also says she can help Ruthie with her headaches, which are likely also due to her large bustline. We're thinking about shrinking the tatas medically. But like any surgery, she's nervous...Now that she's 63 years old I don't think vanity plays a part in such a decision, but if gravity continues to do it's work she'll have to push a wheel barrow everywhere she goes if she doesn't do something about it... (: Yes, she'd kick my ass hard if she read this, but she isn't going to read it...The only one of you that's ever met her is Utah. What a terrific memory that was. Just a short little dinner meeting. I was road weary from all the driving, probably not at all entertaining that day. But it sure was fun. I've lost the photos because they were in my work phone, as was his cell # and many other tidbits of life when my old company took that phone, but...it goes with the territory, so to speak... Did you ever get my other e-mail with the dog photos? Or did I forget to send it? Hmmm. Never mind. I'm sure I forgot to send it...My phone is right here with me. I'll do it now...

Reminds me of the first Jim Croce album I ever listened to. He was mainstream pop, but also very country, I would suppose folk music was the true genre. I had never thought anything in either genre would appeal to me, but he captured me for both. I've also listened to similar type artists like Commander Cody, Charlie Daniels, etc...but never really kicked it up a notch until I heard Croce...And I like a lot of his stuff that didn't get airplay, though I found some of his sounds strangely and quickly truncated at the finish, sort of like...uh...you forgot to play a couple of chords, or sing a couple words there right, Jim? But no matter. He was a wonderful talent...

Both would be nice. Thank you, kaybli. That was a terrific moment for me. Like meeting a truly world famous and admirable man. Still struck by his size along with his obvious strength and vigor. I felt like a sub- species...

tryptophan converts to serotonin and melatonin in the body... Pretty much splitting up into what ever the body needs more of. People associate tryptophan with turkey but your body doesn't get enough from the turkey for you to see any benefits. I've read a little about this to consider myself some what knowledgeable. I tried supplementing with tryptophan before and I didn't see any benefits for me. Maybe somebody out there can use it though and it will help them. With vitamins and amino acids, they only really work if your body is deficient in something. And a word of caution, don't take tryptophan if you're on medications without first seeing if there would be any side effects.

Zinc magnesium and vitamin D every night have helped me to sleep. But the best thing for me for sleep is when I am completely off of sugar and alcohol for an extended period. I’ll be doing that again in September. But pretty much nobody wants to do that.

I very rarely use any alcohol at all. For a diabetic, I still consume my fair share of sugary foods. I don't drink anything with sugar in it, so there's something...Given the reality that everything we eat eventually turns to sugar, I do attempt to be conscious that if I had something sugary this morning, I should lay off for most of the rest of the day...I'm trying to control the diabetes with positive thinking... (:
With some recent successes that I've had with over the counter supplements, I'm now going to look into some aroma therapy as well as at least examining juice products that are developed to supplement diet, since I know I have almost no taste at all for vegetables and have to almost force them onto my plate to avoid succumbing to scurvy, rickets and all manner of dread diseases. My ex-wife actually had such an aversion to vegetables that she would only eat corn for a veggie. When she was a child she actually DID develop scurvy and rickets. She's the only person I've ever met that I knew had those diseases...I do eat several different green veggies, but I don't truly crave any of them...I told Ruthie not to ever ask me if I want a vegetable with our meals. Just cook the damned things and I'll close my eyes and I'll swallow what I can...

I joined a lead group in Pueblo that small business people use to give each other leads. Since there is an aroma therapy and a powdered juice owner in the group I figure that i’ll Do business with them if at all possible. Hopefully I won’t have to tell the aroma lady her products stink, nor the juice lady that her juices taste bad (that ain’t right)...

I'm going to go way back here. Dean Martin "God Didn't Make The Little Green Apples" and "I Take a Lot of Pride In What I AM", and of course his trademark song, "Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime". What a unique stylist that delivered vocals in a style all his own...

Any Neil Young fans out there? I've been going back on his catalogue and discovering his stuff. Hadn't heard most of it until recently. Any recommendations welcome.

Here’s a performer that evokes so many different opinions of his music that it’s almost impossible to list his songs in any particular order of greatness. Here are some that come to mind right away...
Old Man The Needle and the Damage Done Heart of Gold Down By The River Cortez The Killer Ohio Only Love Can Break a Heart Cinnamon Girl
Most likely you’ve heard all of those. They were quite popular. I think it’s important to get to know this subset before exploring the catalogue deeply. Some of the deeper cuts have such unusual chords and off beat vocals that you almost get lost if you don’t have a good base to work off.
Decided to stay up to watch Donnie Darko tonight...I think I’d watch just to hear that terrific version of “Mad World”. The interpretation was so much better than the original version by “Tears For Fears”...I think most of us that weren’t super popular in school can relate to the teenage angst that’s conveyed. My rabbit liked it, too...
And a PS: Get your ass down to the Farmer’s Market TOMORROW!
