Michael Kay is right. In Joe D’s day, 457 feet would have been five feet short in left centerfield. Death Valley was real back then. DiMaggio lost a ton of homers to WWII and his home park dimensions.

If not for WWII and playing in Yankee Stadium rather than Fenway, I believe Teddy Ballgame breaks Ruth’s 714, well before Henry Aaron.

It's possible with that classic left handed pull swing playing half it's games with the short porch. Teddy was also a Cracker Jack fighter pilot during the war and was a world class fisherman. He was the real John Wayne.
