Getting a bit more basic, Gardner in Sept/Oct: .288/.417/.458 Frazier in Sept/Oct: .253/.383/.471 Gardner had a .370 OBP RHP for the season vs. RHP. It’s close, but I feel there’s room for both in this line up on a semi-platoon basis. Gardner has a way of coming up tall when we need him...Still more trustworthy defense And base running than Clint... Clint is so much more dangerous as a hitter. I don't even need to pull out the season stats for you to just know that. Red Thunder can change the game with his bat. I'd play Clint over Gardner every day. Throw Gardner a high inside fastball and say that. His stats were very skewed by his slow start. If we were playing 162 game season, I’d expect he would have hit .250 or more by season’s end. The fire is still there. Hot streak coming. |

I don’t have a problem with Gardner in over Frazier today. Bieber is almost unhittable vs. LHH, and truly unhittable vs. RHH. Frazier has been pretty cold lately, Gardner has been upping his average a bit... In a game against a really good pitcher the only player on the Yankees who can bunt probably will matter. |

I can see it now. Top of the 9th, game tied at 3, runner on third with one out, Brett Gardner up. And Boone calls for the safety squeeze! Runner scores from third to take the lead! Chapman closes it out and the Yankees win 4-3! The bunt is the hero of the day! |

we need to play a lot better defense than we have recently.
