If the Yankees pay DJ LeMahieu 20 million per year, that would put him in the top 40 annual salaries in MLB. He’s led the Yankees in WAR the last two years. With his ability to play all over the infield, the Yankees receive incredible versatility from DJLM when other players are hurt, need rest, or pinch hit. He’s the most reliable offensive player on the Yankees, a team filled with talented, yet inconsistent and streaky hitters. No situation has proven too big for him. Zero drama, and he doesn’t have a regular stool at the IL Bar and Grill. If the Yankees do not pay him, they’ll ultimately spend more trying to replace him. Why should he not make as much as Eric Hosmer, Andrew McCutcheon, Josh Donaldson, and Chris Davis? Pay the man. This sums up perfectly my opinion regarding DJ. In five years he will be 37. If it takes five years for Heaven's sake do it. He is our swiss army knife and can bat anywhere in the lineup(and he is not a "whiffer" like so many in our lineup). He may start to decline at the end of the deal, who knows, but right now he is showing no sign of it. How do we replace him? Pay the man.

Story also led or shared for the NL lead in SB and triples, so the wheels are good... One negative is that he strikes out quite a bit, like 140-160!times per year. I’d prefer to keep DJ with Story, to be honest. Torres has been inconsistent at the plate in addition to in the field. I think he’d fetch a good ransom given his age. But I know. It’s also about the money...

HUGE home (.994 OPS) and away (.760 OPS) disparity, as well as hitting lefties much better than righties. No thanks.

DJ came to Yankee Stadium with similar discrepancies, but YS3 is more helpful to hitters than even Coors Field. Many Hall of Fame players have similar discrepancies as well. I noticed that Story has an absolutely monstrous career BABIP of .380 vs. lefties, so I looked up DJ’s. It was .360... Most likely this move won’t happen anyway... just a writer’s folly...
