Even if Leary had been the fifth starter, that would have been bad enough... 1990 Leary, LaPoint, Hawkins, Cary, Witt, and Cadaret... Yep. Leary earned his Opening Day start in 1991 on the strength of his 9-19 record in 1990, which led the team in victories. Guys like Wade Taylor and Jimmy Jones and Scott Kameniecki were getting starts in those bleak days.
