I can't watch weekday afternoon games but maybe it was a good thing that I missed this one. That said, I just don't get this organization. We are only two weeks into the regular season, the Yankees are off tomorrow and they need to start winning games, yet D.J. and Stanton were both on the bench. Seriously, do healthy players even want two consecutive days off during the season? I believe we've all been relatively open to the new aged methods and statistical advances. However at times these load mgt type or platoon moves reek of the inability to say "hey, we've been stumbling a bit and need a good game here, lets just go with our A-lineup guys." Miss the days we'd see Arod, Jeter, Cano and Tex around the diamond day in, day out.

You know what, Orpheus? If I had may way, we’d have nine starting offensive players that would never get a day off. And our four starting pitchers would combine to start and complete 162 games. The bench and bullpen could sit there and cut out little paper dolls... Ah, baseball 1876 style. Fifteen-man rosters and four of them rarely play. I think if I had been a kid when professional baseball started, which would have made me an old man when the live ball era started, I would have hated the advent of the longball and missed the rough-house style and quirky individualism of the deadball mugs. Yeah, give me Smiling Mickey Welch tossing 450 innings and then barnstorming in pickup games all winter.

Pippsheadache here. I didn't know this was a day game, but reading about it I think my time was better spent anyway running errands. Who is dictating this bizarre rest policy? Boone or the front office? My guess is the suits, and Boone just dutifully obeys. In any event after a mere 12 games nobody has played in all of them and only LeMahieu has missed just one. Twelve freaking games and they act like it's the dog days of August. Resting three starters against a key division rival with an off-day tomorrow is just nuts. The franchise that gave us The Iron Horse and Mantle playing with blood seeping through his uniform and the Yankee Clipper gutting it out with a bone spur in his heel has to have nap time for perfectly healthy players less than two weeks into the season. What would Miller Huggins say? Hell, what would Joe Girardi say? Man I'm in the wrong century. BTW I still can't log in because I am told my user name is invalid. No big deal, I can post as a guest. I'll just think of myself as a special guest if you don't mind. Welcome, new poster.

Quagmire, I presume. Just like my distanced uncle Quagmire Phineas Inger. Dug the first coal mine all by hisself, he did. Dug so deep he found China. A bunch of it. We still eat off it at the family reunion...

As they used to say of Bobo Brazil, "from parts unknown." Otherwise known as Little Rock, Arkansas! Similar to Kamala, the Ugandan Giant, who was from Mississippi. Would love to have the ability to see a Kamala vs. Bobo Brazil match with both men in their prime. That’s despite the fact that I am absolutely certain that Bobo would win with a well-executed “Coconut Butt”... Perhaps seeing them as a tag team would have been even a better option? I wonder if in today’s society if we could name someone of color Bobo, or even hint that he might have the hardest head in the world? ... I loved Bobo... Great memory, Pipps and Rizzuto!...

And Chief Jay Strongbow was Luke Scarpa from Nutley NJ. Say it ain't so!
Although The Iron Sheik really was from Tehran. "Death to America!" Booo!!
Back around 1987 on a flight to Denver I was seated across the aisle from this huge heavily-tatooed guy who sure didn't look like a typical first class passenger, or even a plane passenger of any sort, at least in those days.
When the plane landed he was besieged by a mob of pre-teen boys wanting his autograph. It was a wrestler named Bam Bam Bigelow. I was in my post-WWF life by then and had no idea who he was.
Now had it been Sergeant Slaughter or Killer Kowalski, that would have been a different story.
