Guess I am the last to learn that Cal Quantrill is the son of Paul. Must pay more attention.
Paul Quantrill doesn't seem far enough back to have a son playing in the major leagues. Of course I can visualize Ray Boone when I see Aaron, so my musings on these subjects are hopelessly dated.

The irony is that he’s playing better behind the plate...He also looks like he has a clue at the plate. It’s not all wild swings and misses at sliders down and away nor fastballs up. He’s been a bad hitter, but a different kind of bad... The thing Sanchez was that he was such a great offensive catcher that you could overlook the defensive deficiencies, but he hasn't hit for several years and hasn't shown any sign that he's going to start hitting. I'd rather have the better defender catching most of the games. But always seemed to be Sanchez’ way. He go 2 for 24, then he go 6 for 10 with 3 HR. Then he go 2 for 30 and follow it up 11 for 17 with 4?homers. You never quite knew when the hot streak was coming... The difference now is that you wait for the hot streak and if it comes, it’s just a couple at bats... |
