I sometimes miss details and had no idea that Durbin is listed as a third baseman on the All-Star team. An even bigger surprise was when I looked up his fielding for the league and found he's played 3rd 10 times, CF 4 times, SS and 2nd both 3 times and LF once. In my opinion...At best Durbin can be a starting 2B/OF, at the very least Durbin can be a valuable utility player like Homer Bush. |

The Yankees have three prospects in the game: infielder Caleb Durbin, pitcher Carlos Lagrange, and outfielder Garrett Martin. Durbin and Lagrange are the biggest names here. The diminutive Durbin, listed at 5-foot-6, impressed with an .867 OPS in Triple-A this year, and followed that up with a .934 OPS in the AFL. There’s been buzz he could be in the a mix for a roster spot next season. The 6-foot-7 Langrage possesses a top-end fastball when healthy but missed most of 2024 with back problems. He gave up just one earned run in 6.2 innings in the AFL but walked an eye-watering 12 batters.

He's had a few of them. He was drafted as a catcher, but played only 2nd this season. He never really hit. This season may have been his best, but that's not really saying a lot. He made 15 errors at 2nd in 118 games this season. He's 25 and may find a home next season in someone else's minor league system. Yanks have way too many middle infielders who have more upside to keep him. |
