Potato Salad strikes out old mother Tucker’s son to end the inning, but loses the lead.

Nice stat from the Astros broadcast Most hits per game since 1945 in order: Kirby Puckett (1.29), Tony Gwynn, Derek Jeter (1.26), Jose Altuve, Paul Molitor. I'm a little surprised that Musial or Boggs aren't in that group. I guess Musial had a few of his best years pre-1945.

I don't remember Harry with the Astros, but I do remember all those years he and Richie Ashburn did Phillies games. Harry & Richie, the Phillies and Tasty Kakes! What a great combination. Harry also did the Notre Dame football TV rebroadcasts that used to be shown on Sunday mornings back when not all college games were shown on TV. Good memories Chi. They were a truly great combo. I was at a Phillies-Dodgers game at Dodger Stadium in 1996 and went up to the Phillies broadcast booth about a half hour before the game and asked if I could leave a note for Harry or Richie to wish my father back in the Philly burbs a Happy Birthday. The producer ushered me into the booth and I gave my note directly to Richie. I told them how my father literally grew up across the street from old Shibe Park and they asked me a few questions about him. They could not have been nicer. Because of the three hour time difference, they said they would be sure to send the wishes early. I thanked them and rushed out to call my mother, who had no idea I was doing this. I just told her I was at Dodger Stadium and to be sure to watch the game and not let my father fall asleep. Well they sent birthday greetings in the first inning and even referenced some of the things I had told them about my father's connection to Philadelphia baseball. My parents got a big kick out of it. And it only enhanced my already great admiration for Harry and Richie. Fantastic!
