Ugly? I was an ugly baby. Mom tried to strangle me with the umbilical cord. I bit it off...

Gee, clutch hit, Frazier. Thanks. Yawn. Miggy joins the fray and imitates the Yankees team mates at 0-4... After having 4 hits yesterday.

To abruptly change the subject, since Willie Mays has entered tonight’s thread, here’s a completely self-indulgent post showing that Willie got married in my county, in the town of Elkton. Might have been the East Coast Las Vegas when it came to weddings back then. Here’sssssss Willie!... Harumph! Due to compatibility issues I will send Willie to Kaybli, who will relay the screen shot I had saved... please stay tuned, there is not much else good to watch now...

In 1956, it would have been very likely that they May’s were married at an Elkton institution that has since been closed. I was called “The Little Wedding Chapel”. My brother got married there, I’m going to guess around 1963. His marriage prompted him to talk my mom into having her and 3 of us kids to move to a rental with plumbing. She agreed reluctantly, as there were some neighbors she desperately want to remain in touch with.
The rules in Elkton are still pretty relaxed. Ten years ago Ruthie and I went to the court house, bought the wedding license at one window, walked about 15-20 feet to the chapel room where the same lady that just sold us the license conducted the wedding ceremony. We had one witness.
These ease of Maryland’s policies and the fact that Elkton was near to the borders of PA, NJ, DE, and not terribly inconvenient from NY led many celebrities and non-celebrities to run there to get a quickie marriage. I think “The Little Wedding Chapel” shut its doors for good around 1990-ish... I’ll see if I can find a celebrity list from the weddings. I’m sure Babe Ruth was hitched there. Now we have Mays. Had to be hundreds. ...
