Such a disappointing game yesterday, perhaps a series with the old rivals will provide an opportunity for a course correction. Our old friend Nathan Eovaldi seems to have found a home in his fourth season with the Red Sox; however, he still has not pitched as many innings with them (230.2) as he did in two seasons with the Yankees (279). Judging from the statistics, he’s allowing around a hit an inning and striking out about the same, but he’s only allowed one home run this season and a 1.17 WHIP, yet still has a 4.01 ERA.

I think we should just take these games straight on over to Jolly old England see if our run scoring ability comes back. Our old chums from Boston seem to be striking the ball quite well this season. Perhaps they can inspire us to do the same…Can’t wait to see Joey Cora’s ugly mug sticking out of the dugout and to see what he has his players doing to relay pitches to each other. “Nothing obvious, men. If it’s going to be a fastball, grab your crotches and shout “ole”. If it’s a breaking ball, stand on your heads and I’ll shout “take”. We can do this”! …

Nate’s FIP has been an exceptional 2.33. I wonder if he still throws 101 and straight? It would seem that either something has been added or changed for him to be keeping the ball in the park so well so far? It would seem to be unsustainable. Maybe Yankee Stadium is the right place to do a bit of correction? …

Other than Gyro King toeing the slab, it looks like a normal lineup. It will be good to finally face these guys to get a better handle on where both teams are headed. I will have to miss most of this unfortunately, but given the pace of typical Yankees-Red Sox games I can likely still catch some of it.

They should consider implementing halftime at Yankees-Red Sox games so fans can get their affairs in order.

Good to see Phil Nevin back in the dugout! A thinner Phil Nevin! Just think how much quicker he’ll be as the third base coach!
