Chapman was not happy with his performance, but he got it done. He’s still not where he wants to be but stacking up positive performances will eventually get him there, provided that fingernail heals.

Still makes it harder than it has to be, but he's improving every outing. Think we can trade him in the next 7 days?

Team looked like it was sleepwalking thru 7. Did not see this one coming. Nice to rip someone else's heart out for a change abd hold on to win.

I’m tempted to say that we may only need one outfielder. Florial is looking pretty good out there. He chased a ball too close to the monster today, and he seems to be rushing his throws a bit. He may be being a bit too “polite” when calling veterans off balls. The talent is there though, and he’s got plenty of pop in the bat and speed of foot as advertised. As his confidence grows he could mature into a fine centerfielder…

Tampa and Boston are both tied at 60-39 now. Like I said before it might be in the Yankees best interest if they only have to play 1 of them in a full series and not the other.

It all depends on who’s hot and who’s not at the time. Maybe at playoff time Boston and Tampa are both riddled with injuries and in slumps. To me there’s not a lot of good that can come from plots and plans with 63 games to go. But the true reveal here is the extra wild card spot that allows any team to sneak into the playoffs with a single victory. So cheap and lazy on the part of MLB…

Credit Florial’s two-out double in the eighth to get it started. He was 2 for 3 with a walk looks like a player who wants to take advantage of this opportunity. There’s no happy-go-lucky, I’m just glad to be up here vibe with him. He’s making a bid for the everyday lineup and to become the regular centerfielder right now.

Jameson Taillon’s last seven starts: 5-0, 2.59 ERA, 1.08 WHIP
Over that span, he’s thrown 41.2 innings, allowed 33 hits, 12 ER, 12 walks, and 35 strikeouts. Taillon is not exactly dominating as much as he’s making pitches when he needs them with men on base and staying away from big innings.

In Jordan Montgomery’s last 15 starts: 2-4, 3.80 ERA, 1.22 WHIP
Somebody get this poor guy some runs. Over that time, he’s pitched 83 innings, allowing 77 hits, 35 ER, 24 walks and 82 strikeouts.

Seem like we have three good starters (four if you count Nestor). Now if the offense could only show up and the bullpen would stop blowing late leads.

Getting Michael King back will help with the pitching staff overall. His versatility has been missed. If he can ever stop being a meathead in the first inning, he’ll become a starter.
