I just had a disturbing thought. Heaney pitches tomorrow. So? Tomorrow we win a slugfest!… A wonderful, grueling 6.5 hour affair, say 21-18 maybe? Judge, Stanton, Gallo hit 4 homers each, and Tyler Wade hits 3…Jonathan Davis, he hits a ball to deep shortstop and beats it out for a single!… That's ridiculous. The idea of Jonathan Davis getting a hit is ludicrous.

Do they think they can make the playoffs and more? Dang, but I am loving baseball again.

"I deserve to play as much as Rizzo does" - Luke Voit Look Voit would like you to get some ABS if you are going to hit, but Rizzo is a better player. Looks like Stanton is actually going to play some OF so Voit can DH there. Voit’s point is a valid one. He’s not as good at fielding his position, and he’s nowhere near the athlete that Rizzo is. When healthy, he’s at least as good with the bat as Rizzo. Voit is likely as good as a DH as Stanton is at this point in their careers. I don’t like the word “deserve” much in that statement, though. No one gets to do things because they deserve to do them. No matter how hard Voit works, Rizzo is going to bat from the left side, he’s going to field better, and even run better. For a team you must fit the requirements of that team to be chosen to start. Even to stay on the team. And if you start to pout and want pity you can be gone even faster…

The Scranton Shuttle lives! …The kid showed today that despite his results, he still needs to keep working, keep maturing as a pitcher. The Red Sox helped him out a bit today. They are at their best right now…

Playoff implications:
Toronto lost 12-6 Seattle won 3-1 A's lose 9-0 Rays win 10-0
So that puts it at:
Rays 47 losses Astros 49 losses * White Sox 50 losses * Yankees 52 losses A's 52 losses (Yankees lead season series 2-1, 4 left) Red Sox 53 losses + Toronto 55 losses (6-6 season series, 7 left) Seattle 56 losses *
*= Yankees have clinched season series vs these teams + = Yankees cannot win season series vs these teams

Maybe it’s just me, but I’d also have to hand out some other kudos, like to Jameson Taillon, Aaron Judge. Brett Gardner. Just for starters…

And if you start to pout and want pity you can be gone even faster… I'm not so sure that Voit is at least as good with the bat as Rizzo. Their career batting averages are about the same but Rizzo has a very low strikeout rate. Anyway I would take Rizzo at first base over Voit every time. I think you are right about Voit being as good a DH as Stanton though. In spite of the fact that we are still horrible with runners in scoring position I really like the way we are playing right now. Unfortunately for the Yankees injuries have seemed to take care of the playing time crunch this year. It appears that might be ready to change. Good problems I guess.
