Get someone up in the bullpen! Don't want to see Heaney out there again!  They should have just stopped Kluber after the three innings since they are trying to ease him back in. Or at the very least give him a shorter leash in the fourth. |

13 up. How many down before ws right the ship? … This one was always a tossup. Knew you wouldn't get more than like 60 pitches from Kluber and Heaney was behind him. The last two games in Oakland they just seemed asleep for whatever reason. Anyway here are the playoff implications things are still fine, but the distance is getting big between the Yankees and Rays. Toronto won 7-3 Seattle 3-3 Top 8 A's off Rays won 6-1 Red sox lost 6-1 So that puts it at: Rays 48 losses (7-9 Season series, 3 left) Astros 52 losses * Yankees 55 losses White Sox 56 losses * Red Sox 58 losses + A's 59 losses * Toronto 61 losses (6-6 season series, 7 left) Seattle 61 losses * *= Yankees have clinched season series vs these teams + = Yankees cannot win season series vs these teams |

Hate to say it, but the division might be pretty much gone. Theres only 31 games left.
The Rays already have 83 wins. The Yankees have 76 wins.
So lets say the Yankees play super mediocre and go like 16-15 thats 91 wins which is good considering they were 41-41 at one point so they would finish the season 50-30, but then the Rays would have to go 8-23 just for the Yankees to tie.
Lets be a little more realistic Yankees go 20-11 which at the pace they are on thats prob about the record they will finish with 96 wins which again is a 55-26 finish nothing to complain about, but the Rays can get to 96 wins by just going 13-18.
Ok so what if the Yankees get really hot 25-6 to end the season. Thats now 101 wins!!! def division winner right???? Well to get to 101 wins the Rays only need to go 18-13.
I think we are likely looking at a wildcard game in Yankees stadium against either the A's or Red Sox. Though Seattle and Toronto are creeping up on them. That second spot is fairly wide open so the Yankees just need to win their games and if they end the season with 95+ wins but have to play the WC game at home so be it.

Right that is a good point even if Tampa wins a bunch of games etc they just need to be those 3 games with 3 to go behind. So if you look at it they only need to make up 4 games instead of 7 it doesn't seem as dire. |
