13-0 to 2-10 But I think the wins were very close. We were not that awesome a team. That’s just baseball. Add them up and it’s 15-10. Not bad, huh?… So when the streak started on August 14th the Yankees were 63-52 and the Blue Jays were 62-53. Now 78-62 and 77-62. So the Yankees went 15-10 and the Blue Jays went 15-9. Also in that 25 game span the Blue Jays lost 8.5 games in the standings to fall 9.5 back and gained 9 of them back in the same 25 game span to be .5 behind What a weird span of 25 games. Weird way to go about it, but facts are facts. |

I think the difference is we were winning close games. I doubt the Blue Jays were.
Another difference is we lost about half our pitchers.

Well we start over with 3 weeks to go. One slight advantage is Tampa won't have much incentive to win when we play them since the division is over.

I thought I'd never pine for the Ichiro-era Yankees, but that group at least squeezed every ounce out of them. This group is hard to assess rationally.
