We are officially just two weeks away from MLB opening day. As the season approaches, now is the time to lock in some future bets at BetMGM in order to secure some potential big paydays as well as infinite bragging rights if your long-shot pick comes through.
Bets are already coming in for players to win the MVP, Cy Young and Rookie of the Year in their respective leagues. Which players are getting the most action heading into the season?
Cubs rumors: MLB insider hints Willson Contreras trade could happen before season.
Wilson is what Sanchez could have grown up to be… Sanchez was never going to be that athletic behind the plate, and Willson Contreras makes Jorge Posada look timid. Contreras is a fiery leader, something that would have put the Yankees over the top last season in my opinion. He is exactly what they were missing, other than a left-handed bat.

www.mlb.com/news/brian-cashman-aaron-judge-contract-extension-offerYankees to make offer to Judge before opening day. Can you imagine if they low-ball him, how much different this season may go? Not because of Judge, he has always been a classy guy, but for the rest of the team. If they would not take advantage of the best SS free agency crop in years and also not sign either of the top two first basemen - both positions of need, one dire the other dicey - and additionally they will not lock in the face of the franchise, what message does that send to the rest of the roster? Maybe they’re saving the money for me? … 😎

nypost.com/2022/03/27/ex-yankee-greg-bird-looking-to-resurrect-career-with-blue-jays/I’d love to see Greg Bird make the Blue Jays’ roster. The guy deserves a break or rather no breaks - just health for the rest of his career. I always loved his swing and approach. “Judge described Bird as one of the best hitters he has played with — “I still believe that,” the Yankees slugger said Saturday — but Bird’s time in The Bronx was derailed by injuries. There was the surgery for a torn labrum that sidelined him for all of 2016, plus ankle and foot injuries that limited him to just 140 games from 2017-2019.”

In 611 ABs, he has hit 32 HRs and driven in 98 runs. He was a teammate of A-Rod and Ellsbury and Headley and Beltran and Teixeira. I'll be pulling for him as well, but he's as brittle as just about any player I've seen. He makes Nick Johnson seem like Cal Ripken by comparison.

Old Utah seemingly hated him, never missing an opportunity to trash him. When I took exception, Utah took his ball and went home, disappearing from the board for a while before returning. My posts especially appeared to rankle Utah, who accused me of “stalking him” and tried to get me banned from HeAmyHa. He once referred to me as an “angry little man”! To which I replied, “Well, 1 out of 3 is a great batting average.” I think Utah identified me in reality to my photo avatar of The Scooter, not knowing that I am much closer to 6’5” than 5’6” and outweigh my namesake be nearly a factor of two. I never understood how my words on a baseball forum could send him into an apoplectic furor.

I really enjoyed him -- I guess because he was one of the few posters older than me -- but I was not aware of his clashes with you. Sometimes we can push a guy's button without even knowing it. Two of my all-time favorite posters were JWild and MrG, but they couldn't stand one another. Hard to imagine two more different personalities. MrG was not a fan of Posada and JWild was his biggest booster, I know they clashed over that, but obviously the real cause of the animosity was much deeper than that.

That’s exactly it! Inger and I discussed that Utah seemingly saw himself as a sage whose age necessarily bestowed wisdom without finding it in anyone else. I thoroughly enjoyed Utah’s posts regarding ball players I’d never seen or even heard of, and he more often than not was spot on with my opinions of players from my life time. Didn’t he have a blow up with Banfoulballs, too?

Another of my all-time favorites for the great scope of his interest in baseball. I had a few debates with Ban over the relative merits of Sandy Koufax (he thought he was over-rated, I thought he was the most dominant pitcher I had ever seen) and Blyleven vs. Carlton -- real topical stuff, as you can see -- but the discussions were always friendly and Ban always had solid reasoning behind his position.

And he was big-boned, though not at all fat. Even then, in his mid 80’s I wouldn’t have wanted a physical confrontation with him. Let’s not for get that he also left the forum over a snit with me when I said that I was surprised that he took a soft stance on steroids given his general moral approach. If if analyzed that correctly, I don’t think he was used to anyone questioning his morals from his aerie near the top of the Church of Latter Day Saints. He seemed to be a man who had become intoxicated by power. Overall a very lovable rascal who was surprisingly sensitive. He threatened to pull out of the forum almost as often as he actually did it, sometimes trying to utilize his potential departure as bait to get moderation policies changed, etc…

My brother was 6’5” and my best friend in high school was 6’7” and it was not uncommon playing high school basketball against players as tall as 6’9”. The first time I played against a 7 footer was in college during intramurals. In fact, their entire team was taller than me, and I was the tallest on our intramural team, though I was the point guard. They won, but it was close and I broke my ankle on that 7 footer’s gigantic sneakers. Was on crutches the rest of the semester.

That said, Utah was REALLY tall. He may have quit measuring himself at 14 or something. Huge hands that swallowed mine, seemingly up to the elbow… maybe he had thick soles on his shoes that day. Maybe mine were worn and paper thin. But the impression I had was that he was bigger than I had expected… As to the width of his body, it was also surprising. He had some bulk to him. I think I seen me a Bigfoot out that in Provo… Right in town. They’re used to them out there…
