Tiger shot one under at The Masters today. Remarkable under the circumstances. He sure wasn't as nimble as the Tiger of yesteryear, but he was driving well and made some nice putts. He's four off the pace of SJ Im and tied for tenth.
Jonathan Rahm was two over, his first Masters round above par since 2018, breaking his streak of 15 straight rounds of par or better, which is one shy of Tiger's record.
Cameron Smith continues to play good golf. Despite a double bogey on one and eighteen, he played eight under from two to seventeen to finish one off the lead at four under. Scottie Scheffler also keeps on looking good, finishing at three under. I want to see some big names in the running, but other than Tiger the only really big one in the top ten is Dustin Johnson at minus three.
Other than post-season Yankee games, I think The Masters is my favorite event in sports.

People are putting homes in tear down condition on the market at silly prices. I guess the basis of thought is that they stand on improved ground?…

DoMe, Scheffler is just playing out of his mind right now. Missing fairways is no problem, the next shot is on the green from out of the pine needles. Five stroke lead ties for the largest in Masters history after 36 holes. But strange things can happen. You may yet get the last laugh with Tequila.

Scheffler fell back just enough at the end, and Smith got really hot, that at least it's a contest tomorrow.

n an interview with ESPN, Greg Norman unearthed new details about his Saudi Arabia-backed LIV Golf Invitational series, as well as the damaging effects of Phil Mickelson’s controversial comments.
The two-time major champion and CEO of LIV Golf Investments said his 14-event upstart league was ready to go back in February, the same week Alan Shipnuck published Mickelson’s “scary motherf—ers” quote in a story for the Fire Pit Collective.
“Quite honestly, we were ready to launch on the Tuesday or Wednesday of Genesis,” Norman told ESPN. “We had enough players in our strength of field, or minimal viable product, ready to come on board. And when all of that happened, everybody got the jitters, and the PGA Tour threatened people with lifetime bans and stuff like that.”
“There’s no question (Mickelson’s comments) hurt,” Norman said. “It hurt a lot of aspects. It hurt the PGA Tour. It hurt us. It hurt the game of golf. It hurt Phil. So yeah, across all fronts. It wasn’t just specifically to us. But it definitely created negative momentum against us.”
Norman told ESPN at least 15 of the world’s top 50 players had committed to LIV Golf a week after SI.com’s Bob Harig reported that 15 of the world’s top 100 players had registered for the first event at Centurion Golf Club in London, June 9-11.
“To this day, we still have players under contract and signed,” Norman said of the players committed to the eight-event series. “The ones who wanted to get out because of the pressure of the PGA Tour gave back their money and got out. Guys had money in their pockets.”
More than 200 players registered for the first event, according to Norman, including two previous world No. 1s. Mickelson’s agent confirmed his client was one of lot to register, saying last week that Mickelson had also registered for the PGA Championship – where he’s the defending champion – and the U.S. Open.
“He’s always going to have an open door,” Norman said of Mickelson. “It’s going to be his decision, his decision only. He’s got a few things he has to work out himself, obviously, with the PGA Tour and where he wants to go with them and how he wants to go with them. I can’t read Phil’s mind because I haven’t spoken with him.
From our perspective, I’m always going to be consistent in that I respect Phil. I respect what he’s done for the game of golf, and he’s always going to have an open door to any golf tournament he wants to go play as far as I’m concerned.”

Jack Nicklaus Reveals He Turned Down $100 Million Offer.
In a story from Michael Bamberger of Fire Pit Collective, the 82-year-old golfing icon said the Saudi Arabia-backed league wanted him to serve a role in line with Greg Norman's current CEO position. Nicklaus said he twice turned down the lucrative opportunity.
"I was offered something in excess of $100 million by the Saudis, to do the job probably similar to the one that Greg [Norman] is doing," Nicklaus said. "I turned it down. Once verbally, once in writing. I said, ‘Guys, I have to stay with the PGA Tour. I helped start the PGA Tour.’"

First, Russ… Have you ever tried your hand at golf? It’s certainly a sport to me… I have tried it, but I was thinking about the professional nature. To me the physical demands of golf are not the same as that faced by other professional athletes True that you can play with a flat belly or a round belly, but the game is tough on joints, ligaments, backs… I think the better you take care of yourself, the better you can play. It’s also more of a finesse sport than a power sport, but a sport? Yes…

The most Physical Sports to play without any doubt are
1. Soccer (no huddles-just constant running, etc.)
2. Basketball 3. Aussie Rules (see Soccer)
4. Ruby 5. etc.
GOLF would be way down on that list but commands the #1 spot for thje sport that requires the most THINKING & Patience.

I agree with you on golf -- strategy, steady nerves and finesse. I think I'd add boxing to the list of physical sports, for sure.
