I was wondering how you would have known Gardner McKay, then I saw he was mentioned in a Jimmy Buffet song. Back in my college days, he was one of the obscure actors often cited humorously by me and a friend who was a fellow TV trivia buff who remembered him from "Adventures In Paradise." We would spin far-fetched yarns about his next big project, assuming he was toiling in obscurity somewhere but later learning that he led a quite interesting and accomplished life. We did the same with Bobby Buntrock, who played the saccharine little kid on "Hazel." Unfortunately he was killed in an auto accident at age 21. Bobby Buntrock is dead? Had I known this before, I may not have survived to this point. Is life not so unfair as it is, but then we add this nugget. I think he’d have been one of those kids that would have grown up to look the same as he did as a toddler. Some people just do that. They don’t change at all. I imagine Bob Denver probably looked like Bob Denver as soon as he emerged from the womb. Tim Provost never changed a bit. Ron Howard eventually morphed into looking like his ugly brother that got horror movie work. Jerry Mathers looks the same as when he was the Beaver, only it looks like someone found a way to stick an air hose up inside him and just inflate him to a larger size. I wonder if they had kept going if we might have seen him floating with Bullwinkle over the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Now he’s doing those pathetic “my feet hurt so bad” commercials. “Until I found out I could make money promoting these semi-worthless foot spas, I had no idea what I’d do! At least now, my feet still hurt, but I’m getting money for it. Eat that, Wally!”… I'll pick this up over on Miscellaneous.

Why is Hey, Hey Gardner McKay on the 40 man roster? Wow, I hadn't heard that name in years. Watched "Adventures in Paradise" when I was a kid.

Bill Dickey would be green with envy. Seriously, I saw some of Higgy's bombs, and some were off of pitchers who definitely will not be pitching in the major leagues this year. But he does have the potential for at least moderate power numbers.

Here is the song:

So, I'm watching a replay of yesterday's Yankee/Phillies game that I have on my DVR and Ronald Torreyes rips a base hit off J.P. Sears and I yell out "Toe", although I'm alone in my house. Toe just brings out that kind of reaction in Yankee fans!
