You do? I mean, can you do such a thing? Too much time on the internet? What if nothing is real, and we’re only a part of a dream? When the dreamer awakens will anybof this matter? Assuming that we can only see about 20% of what is happening around us, and assuming that we live in a universe of which we might be aware of less than 4% of what exists... there probably is little harm in anything we partake of that doesn’t harm others in general. At least you’re not spending your time throwing those plastic six-pack holders in the woods or the ocean... I’m going to outside now and hug a tree. Dang. I don’t Even HAVE a tree in my yard. I hope the neighbors won’t mind if I hug theirs...I had scores of trees on my property in MD. Here? Nada... I've actually been roaming the countryside on a horse...
...in a video game! Red Dead Redemption 2, an old western action game. Tons of fun.
You’re not shooting Native Americans are you? I look at the rugged beauty of this land out here and sometimes s sadness grips me when I think about how this land was won from them. The horrors of war occurred out here in the American West as surely as anywhere else in the world. A horrible genocide of an outmatched populace... At least, only shoot the Injuns if it comes down to you or them, okay???

Yea, the slaughter of the Native Americans, is a terrible stain on our history. Best leave it be for the political thread though.

Don't worry. I'm putting all my Indians back in the cupboard...
Now, I do have a story I could tell about a fellow that hung around town when we were boys. His name was "Smokey". He was a Native American, but in our ignorant town he was black, because that's just how our good old boys town worked. Also he was a town drunk (reputations die hard once a few people say what they say), even though he hadn't had a drink in many, many years. I used to talk to him. He was a veteran, and that's how he came to lose his left hand just below the wrist and was on SSI in his forties/fifties and had time to sit around in town. He had some wild stories and at one point his son appeared in town for a year or two. Man, THAT kid was really wild. Long, unkempt hair and beard. Early twenties, had lived in the woods by choice for several years. I went fishing with them a time or two, and they could catch more fish than any human beings on the planet. I remember one time that the boy got a shad dart or two hung up under one of those old iron bridges, and lowered himself over the edge and hung there with one hand to get them back. He wasn't losing any good shad darts! OH, and he could beat the living hell out of anyone that challenged him to a fight...with his feet, never had to raise a hand...
We'd fish often of the edge of a railroad trestle. There's nothing quite like the first time a train passes by you that close and the cars are rocking and you have nowhere to go but in the water or just sit there until 300 or so cars have teetered past you...
Smokey used to get a little circle of us boys and get to talking and telling us tales, often tales that we were too young to hear. Heck, now that I think about it, I might STILL be too young to hear some of those tales...Our mommas wouldn't have been happy, but we thought he was very worldly (and I do believe that to be the correct word)...
Since I never knew either one to commit any kind of crime, I figured they were people I'd rather have on my side. Let people talk if they want. I know a few probably thought Smokey would lead me down the wrong path...but I only hung out with them occasionally. I think it made me stronger...and the tiniest bit more worldly...

I will miss this guy if he leaves. Re-up him, Cashman. If DiDi comes back 100% from the TJ surgery, I could see the Yankees resigning him. He's everything you want, great defender, power hitting lefty and a great team leader. I think he's captain material.

That said, coming back from a year off and on the wrong side of 30 may spell his Yankee doom. Or maybe just his SS doom. Perhaps he could wind up switching positions with Torres...Or, if the Yanks deal Andujar, Didi could wind down his career at 3rd. The point is not that I’d want him moved off SS, but that he’s the kind of person that you make adjustments to accommodate if the situation calls for it...

Replacing Derek Jeter has to be one of the most daunting things any Yankee player has ever had to do. But DiDi has pulled it off as well as anyone possibly could have, both on and off the field.

Let’s hope Pudge is still moving well at 46. Sanchez looked like he was 40 or so last year...

I think if a baby cries in his crib these days he's labeled as a cry-baby for life...I will say that Pudge looks so energetic in that picture that if Sanchez doesn't do what he's told he might get his ass whipped...I hope Pudge can tell him how to keep his ace pitcher from tipping his pitches...

Awesome. A catcher who can’t hit or field well. For everyone who misses Joe Girardi.
