For his career he stole 147 bases and was caught 87 times for a percentage of only 63 percent. That's not horrible but it's not great. Just not a natural base stealer. Some players just don't have the good basestealing instincts. yeah, not good enough...what percentage of success do the new stats say is the baseline for whether you should attempt a steal or not?.........my old school seat-of-pants number is 75% before it pays off.... I think 70% is the break-even, Utah...I do believe that there should be a bit more room in that if the player runs often enough to be a severe distraction to the pitcher, though...To me, that's the biggest value of base thievery. If it didn't distract the pitcher from his task, I wouldn't like it near as much. Of course if all a runner does is dance off the base and he almost never runs, the pitcher is a fool to be distracted by him...(See: Betances, Dellin)...

Anyone notice who is second on the team in RBI this season? Sanchez, an he's hitting .190. He's a sleeping beast. Even when Sanchez wasn't getting his hits, he was hitting the ball... it was just a matter of time before he got hot...

Even when Sanchez wasn't getting his hits, he was hitting the ball... it was just a matter of time before he got hot... So far only 4 singles to go with 4 doubles and 3 home runs. When you review the list of qualified .300+ hitters in the AL right now, Sanchez has more extra base hits than 13 of them and is tied with team mate Aaron Judge in extra base hits...One of the players ahead of Sanchez is of course Didi Gregorius with his league leading 13 extra base hits... The one stat that bothers me with Sanchez thus far is that he only has drawn one base on balls...I believe he needs to become more selective...Is he trying to do too much with the weak line up behind him due to Bird's absence???

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I think Mr. SANCHIZE will prove to be the best hitter among the core we have going now. So far Judge is proving me wrong and hell I'll take that but long term as long as catching don't catch up to him I think he'll put up Manny Ramirez type numbers. Regardless of our shit start to this season.. I love this team.

I've heard and read several sources say that Sanchez is our best hitter, but dang...Judge...now Didi...Bird...Stanton...there is a lot of competition for that title. I could care less if it remains confusing as all get out for a very long time...

Yankees acquire righty Cole from Nationalswww.mlb.com/news/yankees-acquire-pitcher-aj-cole-from-nationals/c-273591842Adding depth to the back end of their pitching staff, the Yankees acquired right-hander A.J. Cole from the Nationals on Monday evening in exchange for cash considerations. Cole, 26, broke camp in Washington's rotation at the start of this season and made two starts before being shuttled to the bullpen. He was designated for assignment on Friday. In four big league seasons with Washington, Cole posted a 5.32 ERA in 110 innings. He made four appearances this year, going 1-1 with a 13.06 ERA. Cole was once a touted prospect after the Nationals selected him in the fourth round of the 2010 Draft. Cole will be added to the Yankees' 25-man roster. Right-hander David Hale was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Making his Yankees debut, Hale pitched two scoreless innings in New York's 14-1 victory over the Twins on Monday.

Extreme fly ball pitcher, gives up a lot of home runs, but could be a bp piece.

Extreme fly ball pitcher, gives up a lot of home runs, but could be a bp piece. His stats leave a lot to be desired. Maybe a change of scenery will do him good or maybe Rothschild can fix him.

" All I need is a heart...a brain...some courage...Roar, roar"... So that makes him what? A tin lion stuffed with straw? Seems about right. As for pitching prowess, not so much.

I looked at the upcoming schedule. Why are we playing so many good teams while Boston seemingly gets to coast with easier teams? The early schedule is really unbalanced.

[img src="//storage.proboards.com/6828121/images/gszgVuvxUtZEFrgJSkis.gif" alt=" " class="smile"] Because we're back to the good old days. Boston gets to lead the division in the first half, and the Yankees get to win it in the second half...The jinx is back on again. It never really left, you see. We were just playing with Boston...Getting their hopes up so to speak, so we can dominate for another 100 years or so...

Brilliant ad strategy with a clever play on words. Didi's stats are not just e-gregious, but didi-gregious. That's got to be it, right?
