I think you might be conflating the terms manager and leader, GF. Managers, by definition, do the bidding of the GM. I doubt Boone was doing anything that Cashman didn’t ask him to do. In short, it was Cashman’s idea. Few managers reach the level of leader and the ones that do are usually jettisoned. Leaders in any industry with real people skills rarely stay put in one organisation very long. Boone implements Cashman’s plans, who has been touting Sanchez’s value ad nauseum the entire off season because of the availability of Realmuto. Aaron jumped on the plane at the behest of Brian Cashman, who has committed to Sanchez big time. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, but I certainly don’t believe he was there altruistically. BTW, he also checked in on baseball operations in the DR, so it’s fiction that he went there in a single minded purpose to connect with his underperforming catcher. This is just tin foil hat levels of silliness. I just hope this was a tongue in cheek post.

How so, uehara? BTW, great to read your posts again, but I’m sure Boone didn’t go to the DR to have dinner with Gary Sanchez. The Yankees facility there is first class and Boone spent time with players and coaches.

I’m just tired of the entire Cashman saga this off season. Since he’s everywhere all the time, might as well make him the Godfather.

I actually found your scenario quite plausible from a business point of view. I have no idea how much freedom a baseball manager has to travel (on the club’s dime) to visit with players at their home, but I could see an itinerary adjustment made to a planned trip to visit a team-owned training complex as a reasonable occurrence. I can see that being the GM’s idea, or the manager’s idea and being championed by the other. One thing for sure is that there’s a significant delta between the expectations for Sanchez and last season’s performance, so if that isn’t closed to a greater degree it’s not going to matter where Boone and Sanchez ate one night in February...

Yeah, inger, I was thinking that since he was probably scheduled to visit the facility anyway, he found time to sit down with Gary to profess the club’s love. I would have preferred that scenario rather than saying Aaron traveled down there explicitly to break bread and pat his butt. Anyway, that got me going. Slow news day.

You've had a little bit of George Kostanza in you lately, buddy...Get under your desk and chill out for a while... (:

I would be really surprised if Boone would get away with something Cashman strongly disagreed with. If they disagreed it would be Boone not Cashman leaving I think.

There’s a lot of whining out there. Some people are trying hard to have things to be unhappy about and they deserve their unhappiness. This is supposed to be trivial entertainment.
