To bad. It would be useful to have Captain America or Iron Man show up at a games.

I thought Jacoby Ellsbury WAS Iron Man? No that is Carl Pavano... Pavano and Ellsbury would be a great start to an All-Time Yankees Glass Menagerie. I can add Nick Johnson and Greg Bird to the breakage very quickly. Don Gullet. Andy Messerschmidt... Keep ‘em coming. This could be dark comedy...

I think Nick actually played a few years... I am not sure you can even call Andy a Yankee, we signed him, but he basically never showed up. How about Steve Karsay and Paul Quantril

Francisco Cervelli was I believe on the DL every season he was with the Yankees. In any event it seemed like he was constantly injured. Of the eight seasons Michael Pineda has been on a major league contract, he has missed three years entirely and was missing for large segments of several others. Hard to believe he just turned 30 (and oh yeah, he's injured.)
I guess we can't count Britt Burns from back in the day -- he had some nice seasons with the White Sox, and then the Yanks got him in a trade and because of hip issues he never threw a pitch for them. So we never had a chance to get frustrated about his situation.
Even further back in the day, Roger Maris was constantly getting hurt. But in his case, it wasn't because he was so fragile or subject to freak ailments. He played with such aggressive abandon, more like the very good football player he was, that he was always tearing up his body.

Mickey Mantle was hurt most of his career after running into a hole in the grass in Yankee stadium. He just played anyhow.

Judge gets $62,000 raise from Yankees, Sanchez $49,400 hike
Aaron Judge got a $62,000 raise from the New York Yankees up to $684,300 in the right fielder's last season before becoming eligible for salary arbitration.
Catcher Gary Sanchez was given a $49,400 hike to $669,800 as the team reached agreements with its young players whose salaries are under club control. He also will be eligible for arbitration next winter.
Second baseman Gleyber Torres agreed to $605,200, up from last year's $545,000 minimum, and third baseman Miguel Andujar struck a deal for $617,600, an increase from $545,800.
Outfielder Clint Frazier, sidelined for most of last season following a concussion, gets $563,300, a slight rise from $559,200. First baseman Luke Voit agreed to $573,200, up from the $546,500 in the majors last year as part of the contract he agreed to with St. Louis, which traded him to New York.

These are not the days Bouton wrote of when George Weiss offered him a pay cut to $32,000 because he had "only won 18 games" the year before... LOL. Sanchez @ .186 BA gets a $50K raise. What a racket... (:

Free agency changed everything. The old system with the anti-trust laws was a terrible rip off for the players. Today’s system is decided by a market that we the fans, have allowed by paying the price of tickets and TV service. It’s insane, but again... It is what it is...

If the player's union want some changes with the system, this should be where they start. Seeing studs, like Judge and Blake Snell being forced to accept contracts that are grossly under their market value is a bigger concern than some 30+ year old average free agent not getting huge offers.
