If this is true, it's been a while since the Yankees had a home run from their first baseman.

If this is true, it's been a while since the Yankees had a home run from their first baseman. How about a HR from our #3 hitter?

I thought it was quite ironic that in Dominguez' first AB, he grounded weakly to the right side.

From MLB Rumors
Yankees Outright Nick Burdi, Phil Bickford By Steve Adams | September 10, 2024 at 11:33am CDT
The Yankees have outrighted relievers Nick Burdi and Phil Bickford, per the team’s transaction log at MLB.com. Both right-handers were designated for assignment over the weekend when the Yanks had reinstated Pitchers Ian Hamilton and Clarke Schmidt from the 60-day injured list.
Burdi, 31, pitched 9 2/3 innings for the Yankees and allowed only 2 runs (1.86 ERA), but he also walked 9 of his 45 opponents and plunked another pair. Put another way, he allowed 24.4% of his opponents to reach base without putting the ball in play, which obviously made that small-sample ERA feel rather unsustainable. The flame-throwing righty and former top prospect still sits 97.7 mph with his 4-seamer, but Burdi’s pitching career has been devastated by injuries and this year hasn’t been an exception. He was twice placed on the 15-day IL due to a right hip injury, eventually moving to the 60-day IL after the 2nd of those 2 placements.
Burdi was the No. 46 overall draft pick in 2014, going to the Twins after a standout career as Louisville’s closer. Multiple arm injuries, including a pair of Tommy John procedures, have derailed him. He’s appeared in 31 big league games and tallied only 25 MLB innings, pitching to a 6.48 ERA with a big 32.5% strikeout rate, but also a glaring 16.4% walk rate in that time.
Bickford, 29, pitched in an even smaller slate of 8 1/3 innings for the Yankees this year. He was tagged for 9 runs (eight earned) on 10 hits and 1 walk with 6 strikeouts in that time. Another former top pick — No. 18 overall to the Giants in 2015- Bickford had a big MLB season with the 2021 Dodgers, when he pitched 50 1/3 innings of 2.50 ERA ball out of the Los Angeles bullpen.
He’s been unable to replicate that success in the 3 seasons since, however, working to a combined 5.07 ERA in 136 1/3 innings while his fastball his dipped by a mile per hour and while his walk and strikeout rates have trended in the wrong direction. Bickford has a lifetime 4.62 ERA in 189 big league frames, but the entirety of his success has been confined to that excellent 2021 showing.
Both Burdi and Bickford can reject their outright assignments in favor of free agency. Even if they accept, they’ll be able to become minor league free agents at season’s end.

Man this team does some strange crap ! God Forbid they give a real prospect an opportunity to play and find out what they have. T.J. Rumfield: Lefty 6'5" Target with a solid glove ... He'll be 25 next season and is Rule 5 eligible this winter. At AAA: .297/.365/.454 in 441 PA (26 doubles, 12 HR, 66 RBI, 67 R, 3-for-6 SB, 8.6% BB, 16.8% K). He makes contact and has hit for some power. But we have Oswaldo! the 5'11 light hitting utility guy who has a great attititude

I guess Rumfield just doesn't fit in (Sarcasm).

Yankees’ Nestor Cortes strikes different tune on potential playoff bullpen role
“I’m happy I’m able to do it,” Cortes said Wednesday of pitching both as a starter and reliever. “I know I was a little [ticked] off about it, but that’s in the past. My goal has always been to win, no matter where I’m at. Whatever helps this team win, I’m gonna do. Of course I’d rather start, but if it winds up I’m coming in for two or three innings, so be it.”

Judge hasn't homered since Aug 25 (2.5 weeks), 15 games. He has just 4 RBI over that span and is hitting .190 (11-58). Really need him to wake back up.

He'll get back on track...

I don't think any starter ever finds that news good.
