And I see a lot of Nunez in Andujar... Don't say that. [img src="//storage.proboards.com/6828121/images/ZVUxStWfuuhWOBrKaeKL.gif" alt=" " class="smile"] Andujar is already a better fielder than Nunez.

We're still not certain that we have a first baseman going forward. That could be Drury's position if Bird doesn't pan out healthy. Austin is still shaky at first base defensively in my opinion. Catching one pop up on a remarkable play doesn't change that. I'm still rooting for Bird, but it's nice to know there is a versatile player on the team that could step in to platoon there with Austin if need be...
I don't believe there will be a split of time at third. I think Drury might spell both of Andujar and Torres, maybe even Austin until Bird returns on occasion, which may not be too bad...

I see it the same way.....Andujar looks like a budding star, and it would be baseball malfeasance to interrupt his development as a third baseman.....I am rooting as well for Bird, but wondering if his fragile body will allow him to become what he might have been.....Austin is learning a defensive position, and is not comfortable there yet....but Austin has shown a lot with his bat filling in for Bird....... The question of Drury will be answered by how much he hits....if he is productive, he will force himself into the lineup somewhere......in which case, the loser would seem to be Torreyes, who is only hitting a cool .400 or so........

Has any SS ever had a better April than DiDi? He tied with Trout for the AL lead in HR's and leads the league in RBI, AVG and SLG. He's 2nd in OBP behind Judge. He's also walked 18 times already after only walking 25 times all last season. Truly amazing how good he's become.

For those of you on the Torreyes .400 season watch, he fell beneath the magic number tonight...

Sure. There's a lot of teams pushing out questionable offensive players. Toe could be an everyday guy for them. The man can hit. Singles.

553 PA 515 AB 61 R 150 H 27 2B 5 3B 4 HR 53 RBI 4 SB 1 CS 23 IBB 68 K .291/.321/.386 .708 88 OPS+
Those are Torreyes career stats to date, which are equal to about a full season of starting play. He can put the bat on the ball, but obviously he has little power. He seldom walks, and though he runs well, he hasn't developed his speed game well enough to utilize his speed to steal bases. In the game that was played in the 1960's or 1970's, he would have fit in with many of the starting 2B in baseball. In 2018 he profiles perfectly as a utility player, with average defensive skills and a hustling style of play that makes him likable. Since he has often come off the bench, there is a chance that playing regularly he might hit a little better, and there is also a chance that over-exposure would lead to less production. With all of that said, there is probably a lower-tier team that could start him and he might latch onto a job for a few years. So...yeah. He could start for a bottom feeder team. But that would probably block a young player with a higher ceiling, which is what sometimes makes a bottom feeder remain on the bottom...

WE really do not understand this semi-negative talk about Torreyes = He can play (and has) 3B, SS & 2B and he has an infectious GREAT Attitude.
WE really do not understand the talk about possibly trading him (not the first time on this board = see prior Posts)???!!!
Keep Andujar as our regular 3B, DIDI at SS, Torres at 2B; with Torreyes and Drury as INF Backup's (concerned about Drury's Vision Problem???!!!).
Drury could also back-up Austin at 1B until Bird gets back (if Bird ever does on a regular basis???!!!).
To trade Torreyes would = A HUGE REGRET!!! For one cannot teach Attitude.
As for Torreyes being like an 'Singles Hitter'= GREAT. For to score runs (besides Homers) we need runners on base.
Tequila & I are starting a TORREYES Fan Club.

It's a great accomplishment to be a qualified MLB bench player. There are fewer of them than there are starters. I have no issues with him on the bench, unless we can put a better player there...

Yeah, I don't think is getting traded anytime soon. You need someone on your bench that can play 3B-SS-2B and Toe is that player for the Yanks.
