Okay, I looked it up. IKF says he and Kiner are fourth cousins on his mother's side. I do a lot of genealogy. Fourth cousins are pretty distant relatives.
But it still counts. I had no idea IKF was basically Polynesian.

The exact genealogy is IKF mother's sister's best friends brother's uncles dog's father is two cousins removed from the lady next door who kinda knew Kiner. |

For the record, a fourth cousin is a sibling of a great-great grandparent. Or put another way, it's someone with whom you share a set of great great great grandparents. That's a lot of relatives you don't know about.
