What?

I have never booed a player in any athletic competition, but if Hicks was in front of me right now, I would be tempted to throw something at him. I still cannot believe he just tried to steal third base in that situation. If I was Hal Steinbrenner, I would be looking to trade him. It is a cardinal rule for a reason!  Had it been a true steal attempt, it would have been okay with me. But he ran while the pitcher still was holding the ball. He had to be totally reliant upon the pitching being unaware and his team mates offering no verbal assistance… Hicks is almost 33 years old with 55 stolen bases in his entire career. Vince Coleman was nowhere in the building. Again, it is not a suggestion or a rule of thumb, it is a CARDINAL rule! |
