He’d have been safe at home either time yesterday… Let's have him race Albert Pujols for fun!:

He's definitely earned more starts. He’s darned good behind the plate, but he’s not going to suddenly blossom into the next Bill Dickey. Higgy is lost, be he’ll find his way back. And to be honest, I’m hoping we get a good look at Ben Rortvedt before the year is over. Trevino is quickly becoming a cult favorite, but his lifetime batting marks are limp. Take what we get while we’re getting it, but temper your expectations… I like Higgy, but to me Trevino is better behind the plate. I’d like to see Rortvedt, too. Both might be better than Higgy defensively. My offensive expectations are very limited for all three.

4.07 to first base! He’s an entertaining player, to be certain. He doesn’t have that loose base stealing look like Rickey Henderson or Vince Coleman. He’s more stiff and upright, but the wheels play him up to be a top flight station to station runner. He seems patient enough to pick his spots stealing. He bases a lot of his game on not swinging. A decent walk rate that plays up to an elite one when paired with his HBP skills. Knees and elbows everywhere. He was doing very well at getting on base until pitchers began to throw him copious numbers of breaking balls. He has slow bay speed with an up the middle approach. If the pitchers fail to fill up the strike zone he can take advantage. His flat swing will generate some contact, though he tends to roll over the outside breaking stuff. I hear he’s starting in LF today. I was on the elevator when some friends of mine that work at ESPN, MASN, and the Pentagon were talking about it. I gave the elevator man a quarter to move so I could stand closer and listen in… He asked me if I had any Mason jar lids, too…

Cashman's goal of having the worst bench in the major leagues in complete. Now that Gallo's on the bench, you may be right.

I think Cashman has no sense of who is a good and a bad player.
