I actually approve of this line-up, as it's a good day to give Stanton a day off, as he is struggling. Give Gleyber a start following his walk-off, and LeMehieu has been playing a solid third base thus far this season. Donaldson with a long homer yesterday could be on the verge of getting hot. Wouldn't our lineup be great had we gone after Seiya Suzuki who is batting .372/.517/.721/1.238 for an OPS+ 259! He also stole his first MLB base yesterday. |

Stanton sits. Looks like Cole has lost his Higgy only privileges. I believe Cole just didn't want Sandwich to catch him, and I cannot hold that against Cole. Also, Trevino is a better defensive catcher than Higgy, and he's been hitting. It's unfortunate because he's a nice guy, but Kyle Higashioka is squandering any chance at being a full-time starting catcher in the big leagues, and he's been given the opportunities that someone like Francisco Cervelli deserved and did not get with the Yankees. |

Teams were interested in Gallo during the off-season and willing to trade, but the Yankees liked the price of keeping Gallo versus the free agent from Japan. Cost seems to be their over-arching guiding principle these days. |

Memories of Steve Sax and Chuck Knoblauch. Story was my least attractive shortstop free agent. I didn't like his home/away splits and throwing yips have ended careers. Seager was my first pick as a left-handed bat at shortstop, but I have to admit that IKF is fun to root for. |

If you didn't see it, here's Story making a key error and blowing the game for the Red Sox yesterday:
Notice that the first baseman (Dalbec?) did not slide his foot up the bag to effectively attempt to corral that errant throw. He was stretching with his foot on the home plate side of first base. That is what happens when you stretch out too early, eliminating any chance to adjust to poor throws by being in an athletic position. Granted, even Donny Mattingly would have had trouble with that heave. |

Don't mind the walk to Ramirez. Yep, you don't want Ramirez to beat you, especially as he's been quiet the first two games. On the other hand, Cole has struggled throwing strikes and quality strikes. |
