Ralph Kiner interviewing a 20ish David Cone. Why did Ralph Kiner only plat 10 seasons? Did he get hurt? Good question Chi. He was only 33 his last season. His long career in broadcasting sort of obscured what a beast he was. Seven HR titles!! |

For a wonderful raw eating vegetable along those lines, did you grow kohlrabi? No, never grew that one. It wasn't much known back in the day. I did grow parsnips. Anything from your own garden is good. I used to grow watercress because you can plant it with snow on the ground and it germinated in about a week. Radishes are fun for easy early results. How about you. Kohlrabi in the garden? Celeriac perchance? My dad grew several types of radishes. He always had turnips and kohlrabi, which we always ate raw. Never celeriac though. All types of tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, peas, cabbages, broccoli, cauliflower, cantaloupe, water melons, musk melons, carrots, garlic, onions, scallions, parsley, a variety of peppers, pecans, oranges, grapefruit, peaches, pears, figs. He was quite the gardener. |

Well since Noetsi brought it up, I think I'll do a little housekeeping. Maybe paint the kitchen or clean the chimney. Later laddies.

His lowest OPS was .775 his rookie year. Even his last season was .818. Those six or seven prime years were incredible, though. Lots of walks, too. |

Yep, I'll go do some fence mending, push the cattle into the lower pasture, and maybe dig a new well. Yankees are in Dallas this weekend to play the Rangers. I just found out when my neighbor saw me taking Greta outside with my Dimaggio tee shirt. |

Lots of info in this, which I had read quite some time ago. Considering a late career start due to military service and some of the unique marks he attained at an early age, he was certainly a fellow who could have bust 500+ without the early career end.
