Bring out the broom for the two game sweep!
Vs. Toronto? I’d brighten the broom out for a one game sweep…

Vs. Toronto? I’d brighten the broom out for a one game sweep… Just got back from walking the dogs. Great to see McBroom, if only for a two game sweep. I love getting up in morning and looking at the first place Yankees and the last place Red Sox.

Someone forgot to send me the memo. I came home looking forward to watching the game. Guess I'll put on the archive game and start cooking supper. Thanks for the game thread, everyone! It was a real team effort!

Wow, the Yankees are the only team in the division with a plus run differential. And a big one at that! Hard to believe. On a pace to win about 120 games. No problem!! (okay, a little hyperbole there. But it's still nice.) You know, to make the post-season, the Yankees really only have to play slightly above .500 ball for the rest of the season. Not that I want that to happen, but to finish 90-72 they only have to go 68-64 the rest of the way. Boonie needs to start resting these guys more.

Someone forgot to send me the memo. I came home looking forward to watching the game. Guess I'll put on the archive game and start cooking supper. Thanks for the game thread, everyone! It was a real team effort! We missed you rizz! Whats cooking today? I needed something quick, so I made some boxed Mac N' Cheese (Wal-Mart brand is so much better than Kraft - I've made the move). Then, I sautéd a half an onion and a half a green pepper, then added a pound of ground meat with some Cajun seasoning and Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce, then added some ketchup, mustard, and BBQ sauce, then a can of Bush's Baked Beans, which are now simmering. Once cooked enough to marry the flavors, I'll mix in the M&C. Sarah used to love what she called her favorite meal as a first grader: Mac N Cheese and brown beans. I changed the recipe of her mother, which was opening and heating a can of Van Camp's Pork and Beans and Kraft Mac and Cheese - separate but on the same plate. My girl used to ask for my version about once every month or so. She really had not changed much from when she was a little girl, just appreciated the grown-up upgrade. Even my sister and her partner have asked me to make it every now and then. I don't know what the big deal is - but it's quick and enjoyable.

Surprised Wal Mart brand is better Kraft. I'd try it but the Walmart close to where I live closed down.

I can nitpick about the offense but things are pretty good right now!

22-8 and 4.5 games up in the AL East. Now they come to Chicago for 4 games. We're going through a heat wave right now in Chicago, but it should cool down a little for the weekend.

Surprised Wal Mart brand is better Kraft. I'd try it but the Walmart close to where I live closed down. Wal-Mart has some of their "Great Value" brand products that are surprisingly good. Their ice cream is cheap and really good. I saw online that their Mac and Cheese had won a blind taste contest with fifteen or sixteen other major brands. It was chosen first, so I tried it. It's the cheapest, too. I even bought one of their frozen pizzas, and for a frozen pizza it wasn't bad. There are some brands that I always go back to, though. Heinz Ketchup, Lea and Perrin's Worcestershire sauce, Helmann's mayonnaise, Heinz Sweet Pickle Relish, Bush's Baked Beans, Ken's Steakhouse Buttermilk Ranch dressing, just to name a few. Anyone else with brand loyalties?

Anyone else with brand loyalties? Now that's a good question Rizz. Hadn't put much thought on it. Probably my strongest, accept-no-substitute, hold my breath until I turn blue brand loyalty is to Schweppes Tonic Water. There are many trendier brands out there, but for me if it isn't Schweppes, it isn't Tonic Water. (There used to be an ad that went "If it isn't a Duncan, it isn't a yo-yo, and I agreed with that too. But I'm talking edibles here.) If I'm going for canned peas, it has to be LeSueur. I'll go with you on Helmann's, although I rarely have mayo anymore. If I can't have fresh-squeezed, I will opt for Tropicana OJ with lots of pulp. I didn't know there was any brand of Worcestershire sauce other than Lea and Perrin, so that's an upvote too. For most of my mustards, it's Maille. I need to go to the kitchen to see what's in there.

No argument on Schweppes, my friend. It's the only choice for a gentleman, which also may have been a tag line for another product. LeSueur peas are the best. Tropicana is my first choice, too, but I don't have a pulp requirement. Sarah was definitely a no-pulp person, so we always had that. Maille is so good, I hesitated to call it mustard when I first tried it - the dijon is wonderful. Anyone have a favorite Italian or Greek dressing? I have found none mass produced that I like enough to buy a second time.
