Most people don't want to see games that go on forever. Baseball is a business as is football. Baseball and football both changed the way the game was played when a full game was already over. Did you ask most people? Also, very few games went past 11 or 12 innings back before Manfred try to ruin the sport, this is an overreaction to COVID and it needs to go away. The NFL and MLB did I am sure. Or do you think they shorted extra time games randomly in businesses with huge amounts of money on the line. You do polls when you make multibillion dollars business decisions. Baseball has changed the rules many times over the decades

lol, Trevino is becoming a folk hero. Gutsy comeback win when you consider the Yankees are missing half their starting lineup.

Big win. Terrible situation in Texas. Class act to bring it up none the less.

No, it's regular football with the first team to score a TD or a FG after the first possession wins. It's not even close to the same thing as Manfred's ghost runner nonsense. Both are designed to end the game quickly rather than have it go forever when the game already went regulation. If you don't like the ghost runner, what alternative do you have for extra inning games not to drag on. I never had a problem with the way it was myself. If it took seven hours, that’s what it took…

If it took seven hours, that’s what it took… I am sure MLB did not build the rules for you but for most fans. And I am sure they did marketing research on what fans, and advertisers, thought of 4-6 hour games.

We’d be watching a buntfest every game… The 4/6 hour game extra inning game was never THAT common. It was a rarity that added spice to the game as far as I’m concerned. ..

We would be watching games with fewer pitchers on the team, no shift and much deeper stadiums so home runs were really hard to come by. Probably no walks either. My views of baseball, although a lot more common in the past, is not what fans want either. I have no illusion in that regard and don't expect MLB will build its rules for what I like. Which is more hitting and less pitching

It has nothing to with marketing research or what most fans want.

My understanding is that MLB has tried to limit the length of games well before COVID because of what I said. Regardless of why they did it originally, I think it is why they do it now. I could live with tie games as an alternative to games that go on too long. Play 3 more innings and if no one scores its a tie. Nice win.
