There's a huge drop off between Montas and Quintana. Why even bother if they can't get Montas? Very true. What about Syndergaard? Is Syndergaard the Aaron Hicks of pitchers? Loads of potential, perennially injured or underperforming?

Might the Yanks have an interest???
A Lefty, Young & Cheap.
Tarik Skubal trade rumors: 3 teams that should break the bank after Luis Castillo trade.
1) Tarik Skubal trade rumors: The Yankees need to call the Tigers right now
Nobody may have missed out more on acquiring Castillo than the mighty New York Yankees. For weeks, they have been a primary destination for Castillo. Unfortunately, they weren't willing to offer the Reds as much as the Mariners.
There are a lot of places the Yankees could go next. Skubal is one of those young and controllable arms they need to heavily consider to help bolster their rotation down the stretch.
For the Yankees, starting pitching has been a major strength. Gerrit Cole's ace-like performance for most of the year compliments well with the success they have gotten out of Jordan Montgomery and Jameson Taillon. Nestor Cortes has been the biggest and most pleasant of surprises for them, though. Together, with Luis Severino, they have been an awesome five-man team.
Severino is now on the IL and there are questions about the health and durability of other starters. Skubal does have minor league options as do a few other starters currently in the rotation, including the struggling Domingo German.
Skubal could provide the Yankees with insurance and even allow whoever their weakest link in the rotation to slot into the bullpen and maybe take over the role Michael King had with the team before he went down for the year.

I only threw a skubal when I had a sinus infection.

We need the Zapruder film or some confirmation from the grassy knoll.

I know there's some time left, but it's been a pretty boring all around trade deadline so far.

I know there's some time left, but it's been a pretty boring all around trade deadline so far. I think action will pick up. Soto and Ohtani can still be moved. You don't see pieces like that traded very often. So far the highlights have been Castillo and Benintendi.

You don't see pieces like that traded very often. So far the highlights have been Castillo and Benintendi. Benintendi is already providing benintendifits. We don’t need power from him, just contact to move runners over and in, sacrifice flys, and base hits. Benintendi had three walks the other day, maybe he’ll rub off on IKF. Also, Beni can get up the line from the left side to beat out double plays and slow grounders. Such a bonus from poor Gallo.
