Kay stating 29 other teams could have had Matt Carpenter. The Yankees have him and still aren't playing him. He is the hottest hitter on the team and can't get into the lineup. When does that ever happen?

Boone said, "It's tough not to put him in the lineup." What the hell does that mean? Because Carpenter has a 1.307 OPS? I suppose not as difficult as penciling in Joey Gallo at .629 OPS. Carpenter has twice the OPS, but he still doesn't start regularly. Ba-Boone.

French health authorities say they have confirmed a link between nitrates added to processed meat and colon cancer. Just wanted to share.

In my younger days, Reds broadcasts used to come booming in on WCKY 1540 on the AM dial, then on WLW at 700 on your floor model.
Former Yankee HOF pitcher Waite Hoyt was the principal broadcaster for many years. He was a wonderful raconteur who specialized in Babe Ruth stories, of which there was an endless supply. Today there is so much electronic interference that I could never hear those stations.
Al Michaels got his first break doing Reds games starting in 1970. His broadcast partner was former Reds pitcher Joe Nuxhall. Nuxhall always used to end his broadcast with the line "this is the old lefthander rounding third and heading for home." Very old school.

Boy, the discussion of Bobby Murcer brings a little mist to the eyes. What a good guy.
