I must admit the Cardinals' uniforms are among my favorites. That birds on the bat logo was first used in 1922. Cardinal manager Branch Rickey was attending a Presbyterian fellowship meeting and the decorations were a grouping of paper cutout cardinals. He liked the look and had it incorporated onto the jersey. Although they had long been known as the Cardinals, it referred to the color, not the bird. When I first moved to California, a fellow teacher tried to "correct" me that it was the Stanford Cardinals, plural. I had to break it to her that cardinal was also a color, not just a bird. |

There was a time, Kay, where I knew my stuff. Long ago, just a memory, like fingerprints on an abandoned handrail. Same here, my friend, same here. I aced all my philosophy courses but now I Kant remember half of it. I remember reading Kant's "Prolegomena To Any Future Metaphysics." Now that was a hoot. I'm still waiting for the movie of that one. I remember getting into intense discussions about Martin Buber's "I And Thou." The only thing I remember now is the title. |

Same here, my friend, same here. I aced all my philosophy courses but now I Kant remember half of it. I remember reading Kant's "Prolegomena To Any Future Metaphysics." Now that was a hoot. I'm still waiting for the movie of that one. I remember getting into intense discussions about Martin Buber's "I And Thou." The only thing I remember now is the title. Inger and I were going to collaborate on a graphic novel of the same title, but his illustrations were all wrong. I tried to tell him prolegomena had nothing to do with genitalia. |
