Boone expressed no issues with Benintendi, saying the outfielder, picked up from the Royals before last week’s trade deadline, saying, “He’s the last guy you worry about. He’s such a good hitter.” Some scouts believed his power might tick up once he got to the Yankees, given their preference for hitting the ball in the air. Benintendi has hit more fly balls since coming to The Bronx (31.6 percent compared to 24.5), but his ground-ball rate has also jumped from 45.6 percent with the Royals to 52.6 as a Yankee. nypost.com/2022/08/06/joey-gallos-gone-but-yankees-outfield-issues-arent/

So Benintendi won't start, presumably because Monty's a lefty, but will be used as a pinch hitter against a lefty. And, lose Locastro from center but keep Hicks in the game. With several starters already out with injuries, I don't know what the point was of benching Benintendi and starting both Hicks and Lacastro.

Cards have some leather for sure. And, we've got some noodle bats right now. So many struggling hitters: Gleyber, Benintendi, Hicks, Donaldson, Higashioka.

Chapman walks the leadoff batter Pujols.

Horrible pitch selection to Pujols, who cannot catch up to a great fastball any longer unless it's on a tee.

Chapman still appears to have no idea where the ball is going. He may get thru unscathed, but I wouldn't trust him in a high leverage situation.

Chapman gets it done in the eighth, despite lousy pitch choices to Pujols.

Chapman still appears to have no idea where the ball is going. He may get thru unscathed, but I wouldn't trust him in a high leverage situation. It's a one run game in the eighth inning on the road. Chapman's last five appearances, he's only pitched to 15 batters. Holmes has an 11.05 ERA since July 12. It's interesting how Chapman is always ragged on but Holmes somehow gets a pass.

Two hanging sliders that Judge fouls off.
