Can anyone refresh my memory as to why Arizona ever traded Goldschmidt? Probably because they didn't want to pay for his next contract. That seems to be the prevailing purpose of some ownership these days. I haven't been to either Busch Stadium. I've never even been to St. Louis. I've driven through St. Louis several times but have never stopped. I'd like to change that soon. Stop at some rib joint and then see a ball game. Or, vice versa; I'm flexible. lol, my son and I will meet you. We want to go to a game there too. I got the new park in Minnesota and San Francisco's ball park on my hit list too, along with new Yankee Stadium. |

Anyone taken in a game at Busch Stadium? I was at the old Busch Stadium in the 1980s, but I've never been to this one. The previous Busch was just another all-purpose soulless parking garage. I never made it to Sportsmans Park, which I regret. St. Louis has more than its share of problems, but Union Station and the Arch are both very cool. Also boat rides on the river. Love riverfront cities. |

When Larry Bird was contemplating retirement, his contract stated that if he had not retired before August 12th, he would automatically receive 2.3 million dollars, whether he played that season or not. Bird showed up at the Celtics' offices on August 10 and told them he was going to retire. Management told him, "Larry, why don't you take a week and think about it, then let us know." Larry Bird looked daggers through the man and said, "Look, I know what day this is, but I'm not taking any money if I'm not going to earn it." Bird retired that day, two days prior to the clause kicking in.
