When Larry Bird was contemplating retirement, his contract stated that if he had not retired before August 12th, he would automatically receive 2.3 million dollars, whether he played that season or not. Bird showed up at the Celtics' offices on August 10 and told them he was going to retire. Management told him, "Larry, why don't you take a week and think about it, then let us know." Larry Bird looked daggers through the man and said, "Look, I know what day this is, but I'm not taking any money if I'm not going to earn it." Bird retired that day, two days prior to the clause kicking in. Built differently. If only Bird hadn't injured his back working on his mother's driveway.

Not that far off from Chris Davis' 0-47 record of infamy. Kaybli I think Crash went 0-54. I'll recheck. Davis was 0-54 spread over two seasons. It ended on April 14 2019.

Adam Wainwright is going to be a really good commentator. He could step in the Yankee booth right now over Beltran, Maybin, and Flash.

We might have him where we want him. He's not accustomed to having a lead.

Wainright sounds like a good guy. I was thinking the same thing. Very genial. He will make a good broadcaster.

Built differently. If only Bird hadn't injured his back working on his mother's driveway. Didn't want to pay for someone else to do it! “Larry decides to do it himself,” Dan Dyrek, Bird’s orthopedic therapist, explained in a Youtube video. “Larry Bird, the superstar, out there breaking his back, literally, shoveling gravel."
Sounds like a certain sombrero-ed friend of ours.

I hear he's naming the 11+ acres "The Broken Shoulders and Bruised Ass Ranch."

Has anyone ever discovered who didn't vote for Derek Jeter for the Hall of Fame?
