3 @ BOS 3 vs TB 4 vs TOR 2 vs NYM 4 @ OAK 3 @ LAA 3 @ TB 4 vs MIN 3 vs TB 2 @ BOS 3 @ MIL 2 vs PIT 4 vs BOS 3 @ TOR 3 vs BAL 4 @ TEX
I know this team looks like trash lately, but I guess it was good they had so many division games early on? They play Boston 9 more times (5 @bos) , Toronto 7 more (3 @tor) , TB 9 more (3 @tb), and Bal 3 more (0 @bal).
So honestly if they take care of business in these 10 games theres not much head to head left for these teams to catchup.

I know we all want the AL's best record for home field advantage against Houston but it may be easier to get to the ALCS with the #2 seed playing the winner of the AL Central or the third wild card in the ALDS round. I'd love to see the Twins again in the playoffs. Of course, first and foremost we have to get our shit together or it won't matter who we play.

Yea like they actually did win a game in Houston the last ALCS but in typical Yankee fashion they blew game 2 when they knew Gerrit Cole was waiting in game 3. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Regression hits hard. Hopefully it will turn around now.

I guess the only good thing is Rizzo Stanton etc haven't been playing for the most part so you can't say the full strength team is playing like this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I blame a lot of the 1 run losses on bad bullpen management as well.

I blame a lot of the 1 run losses on bad bullpen management as well. Since this streak started last time they went to fenway losses scores: 5-6 6-11 3-4 6-7 4-5 2-3 5-7 3-6 3-6 2-3 6-8 6-8 3-7 3-4 0-1 9-12 0-1 3-4 So yea this isn’t 2021 where every game is 2-1 3-2 they have scored 5 or more runs and lost 7 of the 18 losses that is almost half so I agree with you the bullpen needs to be fixed.

I AGREE!!!
The New York Yankees have hit a bit of a skid recently and part of that is due to their roster construction.
The New York Yankees have the best record in the American League on the season but in their last 47 games, they are under .500 at 22-25. A lot of that is due to their roster construction and some of their players coming back down to earth after having extraordinary starts to the season.
As always, the club is dealing with a lot of injuries so their depth is very thin but some of their depth pieces should be called up to help turn around their recent fortunes and, perhaps, even help them win the World Series. Yankees: 3 roster moves to help their World Series odds
3. Call up Clarke Schmidt
Clarke Schmidt is a former Top 100 prospect but he has graduated from the prospect status. However, he only has 42.2 innings in the majors due to injuries.
They recently sent him down to Triple-A to stretch him out into a starter, which is a good idea. With trading Jordan Montgomery to the Cardinals, their starting pitching depth is still razor thin, even with the addition of Frankie Montas.
Domingo Germán has been better in his last three starts (3.07 ERA) after having an awful first start of the season (3 IP, 5 ER) but he could be a long reliever. Whether they have Germán as a long reliever or Schmidt as a long reliever, the Yankees need to have that long reliever in the bullpen, which is something they don't currently have.
2. Call up Estevan Florial
Like Schmidt, Estevan Florial has tumbled down the prospect charts for the Yankees in recent years. He was MLB.com's #44 overall prospect entering the 2018 season but now, he's all the way down to #23 in the Yankees system. Part of it has been due to injuries but also, he had struggled at the plate. That hasn't been the case this year, though.
In Triple-A, Florial is hitting .283/.360/.487 with 14 home runs, 37 RBI, and 32 stolen bases.
With Miguel Andujar being lackluster at the plate in general, Aaron Hicks struggling lately (.164 AVG, .479 OPS in his last 24 games entering Wednesday), new acquisition Andrew Benintendi struggling, and Matt Carpenter hitting the IL, the Yankees could use a bit of a jolt in the outfield.
Even if they don't play him every day (which is fine), he adds an element of speed. As we mentioned, he has 32 stolen bases. That's only in 85 games. The only Yankees with double-digit stolen bases are Isaiah Kiner-Falefa (15) and Aaron Judge (11). Florial would add that important component of a good bench, especially in the postseason: speed.
1. Not getting rid of Jonathan Loaisiga in favor of someone else in the bullpen
Most of the Yankees' bullpen has been decent on the season or at least recently. Even Aroldis Chapman has been much better recently … but Jonathan Loaisiga has not. In fact, has struggled for much of the season.
On the season, Loaisiga has appeared in 29 games and he has a 6.57 ERA. Since he returned from the IL on July 14, he has a 5.63 ERA in 11 appearances. He even has a minor league option if they want to keep him as depth in the minors but the Yankees need to have their best relievers in the bullpen and right now, Loaisiga is not one of them.
The Yankees have plenty of options to turn to as well.
The Yankees just sent Ron Marinaccio down in Triple-A, despite having a 2.03 ERA in 23 games in the majors. Jose Mujíca (who appeared in the majors in a pair of games for Colorado in 2020) has a 3.97 ERA in 23 games at Triple-A. Luke Bard is already on the 40-man roster after the Yankees claimed him off waivers from Tampa. He had a 1.93 ERA with Tampa Bay in eight games in the majors. Shane Greene (who was on the Yankees earlier this year) is also in Triple-A. Richard Rodríguez has more than four years of MLB service time.
The Yankees have plenty of options in the minors and some that could help them later this season on the IL (e.g. Zack Britton) but Loaisiga isn't getting the job done and in a big spot, he could cost the Yankees their playoff seeding or even a playoff game.
