Over on MLB, they talked about Kaat's first victory, which came at Yankee Stadium in April 1960. He bested Whitey Ford, allowing one ER in seven innings while pitching for the original Washington Senators in their last season before moving to Minnesota.
The Yanks only earned run off Kaat came on a HR by Moose Skowron. He said Yankee Stadium I was his favorite of the three. He did recall Mickey Mantle hitting one over the 457 sign against him.

Until I saw a closeup, I thought that green mouth guard Berrios has was a sprig of mint.

Who needs Jim Kaat when you have Flaherty and Beltran? I only saw him late in his career, but Jim Kaat was a thinking man's pitcher and a poignant story teller in the booth. I recall the Yankees allegedly being upset at Kaat's honesty and sometimes critical takes, especially regarding throwers vs. pitchers. Kaat extolled the virtues and effectiveness of taking something off of a pitch, rathan than the more common practice of reaching back for a couple more tics on the fastball.

Montas really is able to settle down after five earned runs. So, we know one of his strengths.

Whoops. He allows another run.

I'm surprised how bad Montes has been. He fooled me, I thought he was better than this.
