With fewer in division games, more Interleague play… What else can MLB do to make each game less impactful? Maybe they can add a couple more layers to the playoffs extending them into December, with the World Series played in a neutral domed stadium in Miami…
Come on folks, let’s come up with more gimmicks! We have the field of dreams, what about a field of nightmares? Sinkholes in the outfield, and infield made of the same material as super balls? Sacrifice a fan during the seventh inning stretch? Manfred men on every base and a 3-2 count on every batter the entire game? …

Right now teams play about 45% of their schedules against the 4 teams in their division. That's too many and with 3 wild card teams is it fair for the teams in a tough division, like the AL East, to have beat up on each other while teams in the AL Central play Kansas City & Detroit 38 times? I could do with less interleague play but reducing the amount of division games makes sense to me.

I don't know how I feel about it, yet. Before inter-league play, the All-Star game held more mystery and panache for each side. Now, it is an interruption that few stars want to play in - preferring to be at home with family - and few fans actually care about the game, which is now an advertising event for corporations. With fewer games against division rivals, there will be fewer chances to gain ground in head-to-head contests in a down to the wire pennant race. With only a game or two of separation in the standings, will New York play in Boston, while Tampa Bay hosts Pittsburgh? Remember, there used to be only 16 teams in MLB, eight in each league with the only chance to see the Cardinals vs. the Yankees in the World Series. That is a bit more extreme than I would have liked, but I was not alive during that time. One thing is certain: The league will make more money off the Yankees playing in every venue. The Yankees typically pull in more fans in road parks than any other franchise. Maybe with the balanced schedule, I'll have more opportunities to see the Yankees play in Arlington and in Houston. And, maybe more chances to see some of you HeAmyHa patrons coming south to take in an away game. I'll happily meet you with open arms and ferry you around. Of course, you could stay at my house if it wasn't in Iowa. I have to sell that thing one of these days.

You're much cooler than my cousins.
