My good neighbors. One told me that he read that 80% of real estate buyers are backing out of their contracts on a National basis.
Another tells me that he remembers once having a cold snap out where we’re moving where it never rose above -20 for three straight days.
What is it inside people that makes them want to put you in a position to rethink your decisions? I leg it all roll off my shoulders. We’re doing what we want to. We really don’t care.
Statistically, we backed out of a build and another house before we settled on the one we’re moving to, so we backed out of 67% in a way, right? …

The fact is that under -5 is quite rare. The temperature drops because it’s in a valley, surrounded by mountains. When it reaches a certain temperature on top of the 14,000 foot high mountains, the temperature “inverts” with the cold air dripping to the valley and the warm air rising to the top. Wind direction and difference in temperature are the driving factors. It’s typically a 1-2 day event, maybe once or twice pee winter. Those are simply going to be indoor days for me… The beauty of old age and retirement (or semi retirement)… |

It’s 22 years old and was repaired last year. Instead of replacing it, I’m probably going to buy a propane stove for the living room. There’s already a vent pipe installed and a fire wall and floor kit. Hopefully we can get one similar to what we had in MD, with a set of logs and visible flame. The furnace won’t be needed that way, and we can limit the part of the house we want to heat on given days. The water heater is also 22 years old, so o want to get it out of there right away before it starts leaking. Tankless? Maybe. If we don’t have to upgrade the electricity. We might switch it over to gas, as well… |
